In this video, Trout Fishing Line Review: VARIVAS Super Trout Advance Sight Edition (BFS Fishing), Hobie-Wan Kenobi goes over abrasion resistance, castability, and other features important when selecting fishing line.
Visibility: The visibility really helps with casting and is a welcome feature of the line. When casting small lures, it can be difficult to track where you lure is and how much line is in the air during a cast. I can say the hi-viz line has increased my accuracy a little.
The visibility does not really seem to deter fish too much either. Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Pike, Bass, Bluegill and Crappie have all fell victim to this line in a variety of water clarities.
Durability: The VARIVAS Super Trout Advance Sight Edition is some seriously tough line. A lot of high-end lines I have used are really slick in the package and then breaks down after fishing in the brushy, rocky stream I fish. The line has stayed really smooth and requires far less retying than other nylon or fluorocarbon lines I have used for BFS fishing.
I also caught many bluegill, bass and even pike with this line. Although not invincible, the line performed noticeably better than other lines in its class. I found there to be far less breakoffs due to sharp pike teeth.
Castability: The VARIVAS Super Trout Advance Sight Edition is very slick out of the package. This is due to the parallel winding. Parallel winding is a method of putting line on the spool "stacked" neatly next to itself to allow the line to not cross over itself and create pressure marks on it. The line showed a little less memory than other line in it's class and the memory would not show enough to cause any significant issues when casting, even after allowing the line to sit on the reel for a few days.

Although I used this for BFS fishing, it will work just fine in spinning gear as well.

Hey great information! Very much appreciated. Hope your well and catching many fish. I use a variety of the Varivas lines and bush trail is very tough! I use it often on streams where boulders and brush are problematic. It's not as easy to fish as some of their other lines but it is effective. Keep up the vids👍👍

Good idea. I guess I never really thought about all the small details I do on the stream. I do switch between floating and sinking hardbaits depending on the situation.

Good review. I'm also a big fan of high-vis green line. Don't fish trout that much but find most fish are not as line shy as people think.

I have not found to be catching any less fish from the green line. Most fish I catch are wild and fairly remote. Maybe if I fished more pressured waters but, for me, it works just fine.

Varivas is generally very high quality line. As always....you get what you pay for. I would like to see you testing the new Shimano Curado BFS towards the lowest weights this reel casts comfortably and without tuning. Great footage by the way, impressive waters!

Great review, I was wondering about the visibility for line watching compared to other colors. Most of our water around here is stained to muddy, so on moving baits I do not think the line visibility comes into play to fish. On vertical jigging or dead sticking I use a Florocarbon leader. This Bush Trail has been pretty hard to see when in the water. I have water clarity all over the place. The line is easy to see above the water.

I use Vanfook micro barb or Owner SBL-55 barbless hooks. Size is usually 8.

Yes. I always use a leader with braid. The fish can see braid easy but, my main focus is for abrasion resistance.

You could always try it without a leader first. I have caught some stocker rainbows with it without a leader. I know some others out west have too. Using it as a main line can still be useful, as watching line can detect light bites and it handles really well on the spool as well. It has some stretch of course but, it feels more like a flouro stretch than a mono stretch.

I use a leader with it, but it's probably not necessary. I'm using minnow lures with lots of action, so most of the strikes are gonna be aggressive reaction strikes where fish won't be so line shy.

I have used a few. I have been beating the Bush Trail against rocks and logs for a while and it is still holding strong. This line is also pretty tough too. If you are fishing heavy current, the Twitch Master has less stretch than the other Trout Advance mono lines. I plan on using it for Coho running the next couple weeks.

This reel is the Daiwa Alphas AIR TW. IT has been custom painted so, can be difficult to identify.
