Grew up using these spinners as my primary lure fishing the Columbia in eastern Washington. I have caught walleye, steelhead, salmon, and a ton of small mouth bass. Silver is the go to.

I'm from the northeast (as you're aware) and my read was also "Vie-brax". That first catch was a very nice one. 2nd was nothing to laugh at, but the fight in that 3rd fish was great! My favorite is generally a gold spinner (but often a silver is more effective... all depending on the water clarity, light and water temperature). PK

Here in the UK, in low clear water, my personal favourite is the copper version.

My understanding on these is that they're great for shallow water - like five to six feet deep, then use torpedos like Steelhead Slammers and R&B's for deeper water. Gold for murky, and silver/silver+blue for clear. But I see people say the exact opposite as well. Like, literally the exact opposite. Fish are going to bite what they want, and you need a pretty big sampling to make any real conclusion. Could be that time of year, the hatch, the temp, hell maybe there's a solar flare heading our way...

Ive used both colors do well with both. I like jerrys flies with the gold blades as well. I can't say that about panther Martin never caught a single trout on one and a tiger is a brownie and brook

The thing with spinner bait companies is they all make a variety of color choices. I usually get an assortment of colors and try them all until I see which one catches the most fish. Then I move onto spoons! Tight lines...

Please try out a small braid NRV! Then use a fluorocarbon leader double the length of your rod. I reccomend a 10-12 lb braid and 6lb sos fluorocarbon. It will change your life, bud! No crazy line twist with any kind of spinner and no coiled lines! I will warn you though, you might have to readjust your casting method because you will find you can cast much further and smoother.

Panther Martin rules ! Mepps not bad either . Guess what ? I use the same left hand retrieve 4 lures & bait in small pools & pocket water w/lots of boulders $ riffles. It's the same as Flyfishing u get bit & u set the hook W/pulling line instead of reeling. Awesome technique and a good video

My favorite color for inline spinners is definitely silver. Super dupers are my go to! Tiger trout are a hybrid between a female brown trout and a male brook trout. Great videos!

I am a light tackle junkie and my favorite trout stream lures are Blue Fox Flash and Rooster Tail spinners. I rarely tie on a Mepps and don't care for Panther Martin's. I find they tangle on the cast too readily.

This side of the Mississippi I think gold is the go to color, whereas, from my experience silver does better out West, well at least in CO and UT, with copper doing okay in both. Not sure why, but if I had to guess, it is probably the base colors of the predominant bait fish. I’ve caught some trout on silver in NC and TN; likewise I’ve caught some on gold in CO and UT, but cast for cast the reverse seems to do much better. FWIWIMHO.

Tiger trout are actually stocked by AZ game and fish in 4 lakes near me. From what I understand they are crossed with brown and brook trout. I've had the best luck in summer on a chartreuse and black spinner, frog pattern. Red is a good all around color for me.

Mine is a black rooster tail with silver blade. Tiger is a brown and brook I believe.

Watch the spinner coming out of the water at 8:31, see it twisting; that is why you would want to use a good quality swivel. I’m not implying that this particular spinner creates more line twist, because they all do to differing degrees, especially once the wire becomes bent a bit. For my money, Panther Martin, or the pierced blade imitators of late, are hands down-the best.

@@nickpezzello3066 Nick, not trying to argue just going on 30 years of guiding experience. Isolated days out west Silver can be as good. In the Eastern rivers truly, it's no comparison. I catch 1000 plus Trout annually. Do yourself a favor, fish with gold more and your success should improve. Also, a wonderful indicator of what works is what's sold in local tackle shops. Go to several and you'll see what i mean. Most Bass Pro shops stock 3 gold for every silver. In lakes it's some difference but streams, gold is top choice. Good luck and happy fishing
