Awesome video, I LOVE the headwaters of the Arkansas, I’ve had some unreal days of 50+ fish up there, and it’s so beautiful the way it winds through the fields with the Rockies surrounding, one of my favorite places on earth!

I couldn't agree more! The scenery and fish are unreal. Thank you so much for watching!

If you ever go to New Mexico, go in the spring. I suggest the Peñasco river, Pecos river, Rio Vallecitos, Los Piños river, Rio Chama, and the San Juan River

I'll keep that in mind! Thanks for watching

Really enjoyed your adventure on the Arkansas! The river looked like it may still have been in runoff, or perhaps just after some rainy weather. Anyway, another great video - many thanks!

I have no idea, I've been there twice and it looked similar both times! Just isn't much slack water for whatever reason. Thanks for watching!!

Good video as usual. I always found it interesting About the Arkansas River in Colorado. Great stream and would luv to fish it. Slow here in NC and VA. Can't wait till Oct. Things heat up for us then. Not hard to go catch a dozen or so now but really hard on them to release given the heat so least active time of year for me. Watching your video gives me the fever though. Good stuff, keep them coming and I would have loved running a Joe's Fly through some of those spots!
@hardmanfishing4 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video! My buddy did throw a joes fly in a few of the spots and caught quite a few, I just didn't film him any. Thanks for watching and I wish you the best in October!

Some buddies and I fished this area last summer, as good as the Arkansas is the tribs in that area are even better!

I agree! We found that out quickly. We caught so many fish I decided to make it an entirely separate video. Thanks for watching!

Losing the net and breaking the rod...I mean, you can't really have fished in Colorado without having those happen to you, it's like a weird ritual or something. The Arkansas is one of my favorites to fish. I am a bit jealous though, I'm a Colorado native and have never caught a brook trout.
@hardmanfishing4 жыл бұрын
Yep its not the first rod I've broken or the first net I've lost and I'm sure it won't be the last! But the brookies are everywhere in CO, just go to any of the Arkansas tribs and you'll find em! Thanks for watching

One day I will get out west and test my tight line skills. The scenery is unreal. A little better than the sewage dumping in the streams of WV, but hey that is home and that is what produces monsters, so you can't hate. I see you followed my lead of no net lol!!! When I don't bring mine I always get great fish :) Great fly in the lazer legal. Isn't it great when flies work all through the US? Keep up the great work guys. Always a fan!

Thanks Mike! You'd have loved to Euro Nymph some of these rivers. You can catch boat loads of fish without moving your feet. But yeah the change in scenery is always nice, that's why I've been trying to travel more. Thanks for watching man!

BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You lost the CatchCamNet???? AND you broke a rod? This was essentially a disaster day. There would have been expletives left and right from me lol. I'll be honest I have lost my catch cam net at least 3 times, UNTIL I switched to the hip holster, it is a life saver, well more a net saver. I promise you the tight line with tunsten surveyors would CLEAN up on the eddys and slower water just off main current.
@hardmanfishing4 жыл бұрын
Yeah... I just put in an order for a holster....
@bennosal62684 жыл бұрын
You guys said it was hard / impossible with the current to fish nymphs ...wht about euro with a 11 foot rod would that have done the trick?
@hardmanfishing4 жыл бұрын
That probably would've worked well! I've just never gotten much into euro nymphing yet. Either way thanks for watching!!

No
@scycosnake39644 жыл бұрын
You CAN, but it isnt the best option

If you aren't into fly fishing, spinning gear is a better option than baitcaster. Spinners, jerk baits, and small crankbaits will catch plenty of trout. Small (3 inch) jerrk baits in either rainbow trout, or brown trout patterns can be real producers. Big trout love to eat little trout.

I would think maybe its so fast that you wouldnt have to mend much
@hardmanfishing4 жыл бұрын
Well the issue is the trout were sitting in the slack water behind rocks. So unfortunately you'd have to mend a lot to keep up with it (I attempted it but gave up quickly). Thanks for watching!
