It is my FAVORITE time of the year! Trout fishing on the rivers has opened up, and today we hit up my favorite little haunt; the South Santiam River.
This spot has been consistent for years, and will be consistent for years to come (after what I saw in this video). Christian and I head out to his place along the river to fish spoons, spinners, Kastmasters and drift floats with jigs. This is the first time I got to use the Mustad Addicted Sink-It Series jigs, and am sure I have found my new go-to. We will give tackle and rig tips along the way as we catch wild cutthroat trout.

I just watched your Sw Jetty fishing in Newport,OR. I went yesterday and when tide comes in get they love sand shrimp. They have some at Harry’s Bait shop

Hey man i was paddling the willamette in my yak yesterday and there was a guy sturgeon fishing with blue label pugit sound herring, told him to try filleting a side of his bait off and cast it back out and when he did within 5 mins he hooked into a monstrous 8 or 10 ft stugeon, he fought it for about an hour and it pulled him 2 miles down river to the buena vista boat ramp where he was finally able to land the fish. Anyway i think you should continue that series you started awhile ago when you were targeting sturgeon above the falls.Theyre definetly more spread out up here than the sturgeon on the lower river but there are a few here for sure.

Its along the river between Lebanon and Crabtree on private land. The North Santiam is closer to Salem, and is stocked regularly with trout
