That first baitfish you caught is known as a fallfish, we catch them all the time when they are active around this time of year even down here! They usually school up in creeks during early fall to late winter

That turtle trap looks similar to one I’ve built! I’ve had good experience using carp for my turtle traps, though if you do decide to use it I would heavily reenforce the zip ties as last time I used it I ended up with a very unhappy snapping turtle in there

When cooking with Butter, always splash a drop of oil in the pan first - it will prevent the butter from burning :)

I never knew about the good luck Dragonfly. A few days ago I was kayaking a little tributary when a really pretty blue Dragonfly landed on my rod and went for a bit of a ride with me. Shortly after that I hooked into my first ever Largemouth Bass...I will now forever look for the good luck Dragonfly.

Next time caramelize the onions w/o water first before anything else, direct pan fry on medim/med-low heat for about 6-8 minutes because 212F isn't hot enough to do this. If you cook the onions in water, they won't get hot enough to transform the sugars to that wonderful sweet onion flavor and they won't be very sweet ( still hard tasting ).

That baitfish is a Fallfish, they actually get pretty big, up to 2lbs, and the big ones fight pretty hard

Rose Canyon lake in Mt.lemon is a great crawfishing location!! I live in Arizona on the east side of Tucson and it's not a bad drive. There are trout up there as well. The biggest trout my uncle has caught was almost 18 in.
