Troutbeck Head, Lake District - Did we avoid the fireworks?

We visit Troutbeck Head Caravan & Motorhome Club campsite in the Lake District, in the campervan over the bonfire night period between 4th and 6th November 2023.
While we are there, we go for lunch at the pub in Dockray, the Royal Hotel. David also goes out for a ride on his bike and we take a look around the site and at the facilities.
Does it all work out though and does Roxy manage to escape the fireworks?

Great looking site and think we need to add to the list. You had lovely weather up to the last day. Like you I managed a trip to a site on the last days of being open this season - nice and quiet. The dog walk looked nice too. What a shame about the shooting - hope Roxy was ok but know what its like, our Poppy isnt so worried now as her hearing is going but the very loud ones upset her. Great vlog guys thanks again. Our 12yr old Staffy Lucy absolutely hates fireworks ☹. To avoid them this year we booked 14 nights @ Hawes from 30th Oct. The only ones we heard was an organised event in a nearby field on the 5th but we were distanced enough to drown most of the noise out with the tv. Lucy was absolutely fine so the trip was a great success. Cheers guys. Looking forward to your next vlog. Regards, Mo 😊👍

I hate it when Lucy gets so inconsolable 😔. Where we live it's none stop fireworks every night for the week leading up to the 5th and then the week after! It's appalling and unnecessary. Anyway, our 14 night plan worked a treat. As for the cheese factory? Yes indeed, it's obligatory.... according to the Mrs!! 😄👍

We stayed here as part of our lake district motorhome honeymoon trip back in 2015 (we'd asked for loads of vouchers as wedding gifts 😆). Lovely site and area, we cycled for miles. Thanks for sharing.

Hi David and Rachel it looks a lovely place again with such stunning scenery and it looked like you all had a lovely time I am sorry to hear about the fireworks and guns both our guinea pigs Bob and Claude and bertee the schnauzer hate them so we can sympathise with you and Roxy bless her In terms of suggestions for a quiet site if you are down this way Stanmore hall in Bridgnorth would be great it’s a short journey to Bridgnorth there is lots to see there, the Severn valley railway dudmaston hall and comer woods which she would love to especially bluebell time and some great pubs and walks in the Severn valley including at Hampton loade and Severn valley country park! @@LeisureBit they were not too bad we left the Alexa playing music if we were out and tried to make sure we kept music on or the tv if we were at home but it was pretty bad this year all over the weekend due to Diwali as well

You won’t need a ball with Roxy as long as you find water. Nice footpaths for a walk great with no traffic. We like to find somewhere away from fireworks. Nice site by the looks of it. I didn’t realise it was so big until I saw the drone shots. Meet you there next year to keep away from the fireworks. 😂😃. Is that hotel where you went with Rachel’s dad? I might be getting mixed up. It’s a shame they can’t stay open all year. Thanks guys. Oh dear. Luna hated the clay pigeon shooting when we have had it do perhaps we won’t meet you there. Great blog again. 🐶🐶🐶😃🚐🧙‍♂️

Yes Roxy loves the water doesn’t she! We rode by there on our easier route to aira force it was thr route back that was awful 😂 Weather looks glorious for November. We were at a tiny site in Shropshire on bonfire night and hardly heard any fireworks. Good for our doggos as they hate them too! Xx

Hi David Rachel and Roxy it's Malcolm and Sheila again from Workington with information about the basecamp near where you stayed has Llamas and Alpacas tother week they all escaped onto the A66 due to a hole in the fence due to a accident all 30 of them Soon got rounded up by owner and staff there's a short video on KZbin anout it all traffic came to a standstill All the best Malcolm and Sheila

Try Hargill House just off A66 after Scotch Corner ( Richmond Hargill House CMC site) We were there on Bonfire night weekend for the same reason as you and it was very quiet. There were distant fireworks but not bad at all

Thanks for the tip - that’s not too far away - we stayed at Thorpe Farm recently just past Mainsgill which was nice but not sure if you would get fireworks there - really good shout - appreciated 👍

I wondered if it might be for licensing reasons - I know the weather can get bad out there in the depths of winter but seems early to close given the facilities when it does. Apparently next year they are closing at the end of October. The site has lovely views and has a great rural feel to it and hills and mountains all around which is great.
