Troutbeck Head Caravan & Motorhome Club Site - Lake District

We visit Troutbeck Head following a recommendation after watching Bob Earnshaw's video to get away from the fireworks to somewhere quiet for bonfire night.
On the way we stop off Burger King and also at Rheged.

Hi Rachel & David, Nice vlog. I was up there that night on a 200-mile round trip favour, luckily |I got the call before I had opened the wine😂😂 It was bucketing down there today, I was only thinking when I passed Rheged how many people either pass or stop at the garage without knowing what's there. We love BurgerKing but we also love Greggs so that would have caused a big debate in our little family! Your pitch was great with such a view but I would imagine that every pitch has a good view. We have never stayed in the Lakes in the van so think we may pop up there next year. I don't think we have ever seen a pool table in a club site, It's good to see a kids play area too as well as walks directly from the site We wouldn't really mind the quad bikes going past but the peaceful end looked really tranquil! Hi Elaine, Mike, Samuel and Thomas - thank you for watching - the Lakes as fantastic and would highly recommend! Some beautiful scenery at many of the sites - Why choose between Burger King and Greggs you could have both or a mix up as both available inside 😀 You can book on the quad bikes next door if you fancied that and the other activities I believe. Looks like a really nice place to stay especially with the views and the stream. A great place to avoid the fireworks for Roxy too. A touch wobbly to start with David but I guess you soon got the hang of it 😉. I enjoy taking the bike with me know and have upgraded to an ebike. The dog walks looked nice to and yes the obligatory paddle from Roxy. Thanks both 👌

Tim it was beautiful. So peaceful and not a firework to be heard. The things we do for our dogs 💕💕 David was well wobbly @ first I had camera to hand just in case I could capture a “you’ve been framed fall” 🤣🤣 The site definitely met with young Roxy’s approval I hope you guys are ok Rachel, David & Roxy x

Looks a nice place even in the wet… not having much luck with the weather recently! How are you finding the MiRiders? They look a bit wobbly with those tiny wheels, did I spot a Poshcats Smirf there?

It seems to be wet everywhere we go at the moment 🌧️ but as you say it’s a nice site even in the wet and we would definitely go back again - yes Poshcats were there and also Bob too. Ref Mirider - it’s better once you get the hang of it - the first bit setting off was a bit wobbly as was first go but got better as I sussed it out - the smaller wheels weren’t too bad but want to use it a bit more to conclude - definitely got better though so it’s more me than the bike 😀 Thanks for the comment, appreciated - have a good week - all the best, David & Rachel 👍

Nice site but a bit too out of the way for us, prefer to be in Keswick and walk into the town. You know you did refer to it as the Camping and Caravan club site when you entered, just so not to confuse everyone.

Yes, the sites out of the way and we purposefully wanted to go to that one with it being bonfire night for some peace and quiet but it’s walking, biking or getting in the van/car to go into a town etc. all the best, David 👍

Thank you. It’s about 9.5 miles from the M6 Penrith junction and took us 10-15 mins from there. It’s a straightforward enough route. Always feels nicely out of the way. All the best, David & Rachel 👍

I took a couple of shots over the site for some perspective of the site and area for anyone who may be interested in visiting after obviously doing pre flight checks to ensure it was safe to fly and there were no air restrictions in place at that point in time. All the best. David 👍

Hi Trev it was a great tip to go there on bonfire night - Roxy hates the fireworks and we had such a peaceful night - apart from the loud sheep 🤣 We spotted Smurf looking very glamorous on the way past. What a lovely site - we loved it will be back (in the words of Arnie) Catch you on the next one 🤣🤣
