this utah fish map shows some lakes that produce bigger fish. Look up the stock schedule for what ever lake and and target lakes that were stocked 4 to 6 years ago. Hope this helps. dwrapps.utah.gov/fishing/fStart

That was some fine high Uinta's Brook Trout fishing after god do graciously cooled the water with just the right amount of ice. It was like ice off all over again - hallelujah!

Awesome video! Do you wish you would have had the float tube on this trip? Do you feel like you can fish more of the day when you are able to reach more of the middle of the lake typically?

Float tubes are definitely a plus at many lakes. They don't give you an advantage at all lakes but it would be beneficial at this particular lake. Distance alone from the trailhead makes it impractical to pack in a tube at a lot of good lakes where you end up wishing you had one

@@TroutHowler Thanks yeah I hear ya. I just invested in a backpacking float tube. Going to try it out in the uintas in a couple of weeks. only 3lbs!

Not to be critical, but why do you use gloves? Sun protection? Fish protection? Cold? If they work well, what brand are they?

My hands get destroyed If I don't wear the gloves. It started about the same time I started doing KZbin fishing videos. My hands will look like I have a 3rd degree sunburn at the end of a trip if I don't use them and my skin will literally peel off. It kind of sucks when fishing happens to be your favorite passion. I get quite a bit of flack for using the gloves but it usually comes from uneducated know it alls that are just regurgitating something they heard when in all reality they have no actual clue what they are talking about. It is true that there can be a negative effect if too much of the mucoprotein protective layer is removed when handling fish with gloves or handkerchiefs etc. This tends to be more common when using organics vs synthetics but gloves have been used in fish hatcheries for many many years and still are to this day. Miraculously the vast majority of the fish are fine

@TroutHowler Alpine trout fishing has quickly become one of my favorite hobbies. I'm nowhere near your experience level. The fish I catch are smaller and fewer in number, but it's still where I'd rather be than at the office. Thank you for your content.

Everyone that follows your channel knows that you are a very experienced fly fisherman and you go for the big ones. It would be helpful if you told us what the length of the trout is that you catch. Because with your lenses you can make a 17" trout look like a 5 pounder. And I don't see the need of telling us what fly you catch every fish on. It just seems repetitive.

Well David, I doubt anybody is forcing you to watch my videos. If it bothers you that much, I have a suggestion for you---don't watch. There's plenty of other fishing channels out there for you. I have over 160 fishing videos on KZbin---repetition is pretty much inevitable. I am constantly asked to mention or show the patterns i'm using. You're the perfect example of the fact that you can't please everybody.

You are partially right TroutHowler. There are plenty of other fishing channels and nobody is forcing me to watch your videos; and you can't please everybody. But more truth is in the statement you can't please all of the people all of the time. You have many excellent videos that I have really enjoyed a lot. I don't know why you feel like you are being insulted because I made a couple of comments that you didn't care for. If all of your comments are positive, how are you ever going to improve your content?

@@davidbentley8092 I certainly get my fair share of negative comments and of course that's going to happen. A far more famous fisherman with a channel much larger than mine asked me if I get any angry people commenting on my channel. I told him yeah, but not as many as I did at first. I asked him the same and he said "I learned early on that you can't please everybody, so why try" In my first reply to you, I should have finished with---so why try. I'm not insulted, I'm way to lazy to care enough for that. As far as improving my content goes, would it be smart to change for the one over the many? I had one guy recently get upset at me saying I do trophy poses --whatever that is. Another guy was upset that I don't say the exact lake I'm at. However, the vast majority of people contacting me through my channel or Instagram are typically appreciative of the content, so I'm probably going to stick with what has worked for me this far.
