The Drainzit hose is what I bought for my TB 30. Never spill a drop of oil and have been using it for 3 years. Also a Briggs and Stratton oil filter will work. I get mine at Lowes for 10 bucks. I've had the TB 30 for 5 years and good maintenance keeps it problem free. Great video!

Excellent tutorial! I got one of these used a few years ago and it will need this before winter. Also, loosening a filter when you drain crankcase oil on a motor helps get more oil out and it drains more quickly. Thanks again!

I just got a used one from a small engine repair guy fully serviced. He went over it pretty well with oil drain channel trick too. I finally had enough with even a self propelled mowing every third day with rain keeping the grass growing. Got a good fair price after seeing what new ones are.

Lucky you have this version of this rider. I just got mine about 3 or 4 weeks ago and it's the yard machines version which has the Briggs 875 series engine mounted at a weird angle and it has a small ATV battery that's charged with a plug on the side of the mower by the charger which kinda looks like what you would use to plug in a small household stereo or landline wireless phone. My engine doesnt have the oil filter or drain spout like almost every single riding mower I've ever seen. This things similar to a car and on the underside of the engine and it's a pain to get to as well with all the pullies and belts in the way. The engine also holds an incredibly small amount of oil for its size as well if you ask me. It's also quite interesting that mine doesnt have a throttle for the engine it just runs at one speed at all times which is my biggest pet peeve about the mower. That and if your anything like me the forward neutral reverse handle under the seat is super inconvenient and located in a weird way that makes shifting back and forth a pain if you have to reverse and such quite often the way I do when mowing. That being said for the 150 bucks I paid for a like new 2015 rider that most likely has less then 50 hours on it. I couldnt say no. I just find it interesting that this design is sold as troy bilt. Craftsman murray etc and each one has a few different things. But it's a lesson in american mowers nowadays. They are all made by mtd and just different colors and names. I hate that john deere is made by mtd now I'll stick with the older ones my Deere 210 is a great mower but my favorite is my 314 full hydrostat. Has the mower the snow blade and blower and rotor tiller and even the deck is lifted and such by a hydraulic system. Plus Kohler motors were so much better made then briggs or kawasaki or even honda

Thanks for subscribing brother. I kind of feel I have to split the content of my other channel so the plan is to start to move the DIY stuff here. I saw you started doing shorts. Hopefully that'll give you a bump. As for the mower, I hope you can get a good price on it. We bought it at Home Depot and they did deliver it for free and I got it the next day.

You certainly can do it this way, however with todays tools you can work smarter. I used a siphon pump or even used Automotive Fluid Extractor Pump, Oil Change Syringe with Hose no fuss no mess. It is a good idea to run the motor I usually change the oil after the grass is cue. Oil changes are very easy now a days.

This video was made two years ago but I have a question about my little Troy-Bilt ride on. So it starts up I get on it I put it in gear and I cut the lawn for about a half hour and then all the sudden it just starts sputtering sputtering and completely dies. It's got over a half a tank of gas in it what could be the issue? I changed the air filter as it was easy but I don't know what else to do Thank you

There's no washer or o-ring on that drain plug. My one now leaks even though it feels like it's very tight. I don't want to strip the thread, is there a torque figure for it, or some other way of getting it to seal properly?
@steveandritasdiyАй бұрын
Not that I know of. If it's screwed in straight and tight, and it still leaks, I'd buy a new replacement drain plug.

I would probably use castor oil, classic 20 W 50 and change the oil every 20 times you mow or if it starts to look dark and if you have a butt load of money then get a couple of quarts of royal purple HPS 20 W 50 or the ultra series diesel oil

I have the exact same TB30 mower. 382cc. Great machine. I bought mine in 2017. PLEASE look up the "Drainzit" oil change extension. For about $30, you can end your nightmare oil changes. It is a thick rubber hose that screws into the drain plug port, and has a cap on the other end. American Made!!

My TB30r was purchased from Lowes, it doesnt have a filter either. Its a 10.5HP Briggs and Stratton Engine with NO clearance between the frame and the motor for an oil ramp. Best way I have found is to open the oil fill cap and use a siphon pump to extract the old oil. Dont even bother with the drain plug

@@steveandritasdiy wow. you might want to talk to a mower mechanic and ask them if there's a part you can buy for that engine to make the oil change easier and less messy. or go to the troy bilt website and ask them. they have a live chat menu at the top of their website you can click on to ask questions. you'll need to tell them the model number of your mower and possibly the model number of your engine. I think they should send you a new oil drain plug extension for free. that's ridiculous the way they designed that oil drain plug. If you chat with them, send them a link to your video so they can clearly see how ridiculous it is.
@reneem.4725 Жыл бұрын
