@kylewagman LOL. Not that we blowing. I think Dan meant some of the drifts were 6". He gets a little excited and forgets what he is saying sometimes

Glad I watched this. I JUST assembled and started my Troy-Bilt Squall 2100 today for the first time. I was expecting a smooth run, but it seemed to run rough/surge (yep, I started it correctly and I used fresh, high-octane pure gas). So, unless we BOTH got bad units, I guess they're supposed to run that way!

I just started mine for the first time and it sounded nothing like this unit in the video. Maybe the plug is gaped wrong on yours?
@douglascrouse87938 жыл бұрын
After running a while last winter, the engine seemed to even out a bit. Maybe just needed breaking in. I'll be getting mine ready for this winter in a few days, and will check the plug gap.

Hey actually check out a few comments below this thread. A guy mentioned that a badly calibrated carb or choke lever can be the cause for what you are experiencing. Probably get it adjusted under warranty too. Good luck! Edit: I actually read that in another thread, but still worth a try IMO getting the carb and choke looked at. My father in law's blower has the exact same symptom but we haven't dug into it yet. I'll update this post once we figure it out so you have an idea of what is causing this surge sound.

The engine is running lean and surging; needs a little choke or a carb clean/adjustment

For a brand new 4 stroke unit, that's kind of disconcerting.

The only thing i like about this blower are it's drift cutters. I wonder if i bought the kit if i could install them on my Toro PowerClear 721QZE...? I realize i'd have to drill holes but i'm not sure if the Troybilt is made of steel where the drift cutters attach on either side. Or if it's made of plastic...? I know the drift cutters themselves are made of steel. Be interesting to know if anyone has tried this modification on there one stage snow blowers.

Not bad for such a little machine. I think all pull start engines should have that big handle

I live east of Cleveland Ohio on the edge of the snow belt. I had at least an inch or two of snow fall, while I was cleaning the driveway. If the snow is even a little sticky, it packs the wheels so they don't turn. If you want aerobic exercise, you'll get it. The Squall 2100 takes nearly as much effort to push with the wheels caked, as it does to shovel. At the end of this snow storm, I'm going to replace the wheels. Troy Built should try really their products out, before they sell them.

TheUnclebuck5 mine throws the snow just fine. Even when it's sticky, slushy. I love it, also I have no problems pushing it either. I have used it on 12 inch deep powder or even packed snow. Hardly ever plugs up. It's weird how some people have issues and others don't? Just keep it maintained might be my secret?

I just looked this up because it's the middle of summer here and I just bought one of these for 30 bucks! It's been used twice!!!! LOL wooo Hoo this is awesome. Mines a 3 horsepower 2 stroke 50:1 with electric start. I figured if it sucked I would just make a gas powered mini chopper for the kids with it but looks like it's way better than I thought it would be. LOL - Oh yeah I got the troy build driveway edger also 4 cycle! LOL for 30 more dollars and it's newer than the snow blower! Ha! smokin deal.

@@tonychau1983 Imnot sure I cant read the lable on it. it says its 3 HP though 2 stroke and it has a place to lug it in for electric start.

I have no experience with snowblowers, but I have plenty of experience with heavy snowfall (upstate NY). And this looks like a toy.

+PanamaSticks Yea, this is for smaller storms

Spend 400.00+ more and you’ll get something more capable- but I’m a big fan of these smaller single stages. Light weight, super easy to move and simpler design that keeps them less likely to get clogged up. They’re great wkth fresh powder- not really meant for slush. If you stay on top of a storm and make a couple passes, taking on 8 inches of snow or less, they’re a great machine.
@worstedcdogg10 жыл бұрын
yeah needs light carb clean - if you mix the oil and gas in the tank in the cold the oil will clump its way right into the carb and be too thick to be passed - all brass internals on this one - pull it apart and spray it out.

This is a 4 cycle so no mixing.

This machine is only good for moving snow that deep right there (1”-3”). Anymore than that, expect constant downtime from cleaning the chute. Where I’m at in upstate NY, single-stage blowers like that are practically useless. That’s why you spend the extra money and get a dual-stage or even a three-stage one if you’re lucky. I lucked out between my father purchasing a 33” Troy-Bilt XP3310 a few years back and I purchased a used 2017 Simplicity M1227E 27” snowblower last summer at my local John Deere dealer after I seen it on their site. After changing the auger drive belt, that little blower really cuts deep. Gone farther than what our Troy-Bilt Storm 9528 we had before. I ran my Simplicity today and during the course of this past week and it has never failed me. Even started on one pull with the -30 to almost -40F wind chill. Best 500 bucks I’ve ever spent right there.

Next purchase some boots unless you like cold wet feet, oh and take this one back or sell it and buy a toro, I have a toro 3650 and after 20 years she still runs great and has moved a lot of snow in her life.
