Troy Bolton's Singing Voice Isn't Zac Efron's Voice in High School Musical

Did you know that when Troy Bolton sings "Breaking Free" in the first High School Musical, his singing voice does not belong to Zec Efron? It's actually Drew Seeley's voice. At first, he co-wrote the song "Get'cha Head in the Game" and made a demo for HSM. Later, he was invited to audition alongside Zac Efron for the role of Troy Bolton. Efron got the role, but he couldn't reach the high notes needed for his singing parts, and Seeley ended up acting as Troy's singing voice. In fact, most of the songs featuring Troy's parts were actually performed by Drew Seeley.

Atleast Zac's voice got improved so much in HSM 2 and 3. His best vocal is Scream. He hit the high note there.

If you listen carefully you can can hear the difference between him and Drew because his voice is deeper, and more nasal when he tries to to sing higher, while Drew has a higher singing voice that comes from his diaphragm.

Zac does sing bits in the first film Zac definitely sings the first verse of both Breaking Free & Start of something new The vocals defo change once the pre chorus kicks in Also zac sings the ‘start of something new’ Just before Troy & Gabriella sing the final line Also we know Zac was the one singing Start of something new (reprise) on the balcony I know this because I listened to these parts in both songs and watched videos of vocal coaches watching the films As the parts I claims were Zac, sound identical to Troy’s real voice in HSM 2 & 3, via his tone and they also stated these few moments that Troy sang in the first film

This is not right. Drew was cast first and record the album but later production saw that drew looked much older that Vanessa so that’s why they called Zac to act the movie but kept the songs with drew voice so they would not record all again.

It was someone else's choice and they thought the guy who wrote the song sounded better. You can here some real singing from Zach afron from the beginning of "breaking free", but then when the song picks up it switches to the dub.
