Difference with foden at city with him at England is that he has 1000% trust and faith from his manager and team mates to be himself. With England he’s not had it as much … Southgate has favoured players over him time and again instead of fully backing him and building around him it’s always fitting him in random positions when he’s clearly at his best as a 10 … people moan because he doesn’t dominate the wings but he ain’t a winger! Bellingham should be playing next to Rice where we’ve known him to play. The 10 role is so forced as a result of playing there for Real Madrid where he basically plays a forward role. This is only because Madrid doesn’t have a recognised striker. England has Kane.

I feel like Bellingham alongside Rice makes sense. It's always been my favourite way to see a 4231 deployed. One is more disciplined and defensively minded, and the other has more licence to roam. It also allows a more natural attacking midfielder to go in front, which is positive without being too risky because Bellingham has shown he likes to do the dirty work as a complete midfielder. I mean, he doesn't do the dictating tempo thing, but playing 125 short passes per game with 95% success rate and zero chances created is the opposite of what England needs right now. If you need to tighten up, Bellingham can be the more advanced midfielder and someone else can come in behind him, or it can be a 433/4141 I guess? That's where someone like Gallagher, Mainoo or even Loftus-Cheek as a wildcard could come in. Barkley or Ward-Prowse would have been interesting options for depth too... anyone would be preferable to Henderson lol. We don't have any standout players on the wings right now, so Maddison or Foden behind the striker and/or off the right would be nice.

Foden is incredibly talented. But I do think he also benefits from the system at City that gets the very best out of him. By that I mean if you remove him from that system he’s been in since youth levels, he is not nearly anywhere close to being the same player. The difference between players like Bellingham, Haaland, and Foden is that the first two have proven that they can play at the elite level in different styles of play. With Foden, he has not proved that at all.

Foden was player of the tournament for England youth when they won the cup. Clearly he can play well outside of City's system. Scholes played terribly for England, so I guess he is not proved it at the elite level either right as could only do it under Fergie's system?

For example, Nigeria are the most successful nation at the U-17 World Cup level with 5 titles and 3 runners up medals. But their senior team has never advanced past the Round of 16. Second, I’m not denying Foden is a very talented player. Very far from that. But his performances with England make me question if he can actually thrive out of a system that he’s been brought up and raised in since youth levels. Because he looks markedly different playing for England than for City.

R u really that surprised?? Foden playes week in week out, trains with, hangs around with and on the pitch has a completely different kind of understanding and connection with his team mates at City. He’s literally grown up at city his entire football career. Hes so comfortable at City and trusted by the best manager in the world. His son is on the changing rooms half the time! Everyone at the club knows his boy. It makes all the difference knowing where the likes of KDB is going to pass, or Bernardo Silva. Not to mention the fact that those players around him at City are some of the best in the world!

I think Jude is more likely to win you a game than Foden. You only have to look at the amount of important goals he has scored this season especially late on for example his goal against Belgium. Both great players, I would definitely play Foden as a number 10 with Bellingham next to rice and freedom to roam. If that doesn't work Foden can play on the left with Jude moving further forward with Mainoo next to Rice. I think that's what we're likely to see in the euros
