Troy was a huge influence on me and my friend back in the day. Hes the reason we went brakeless.

Same. Rode a warpig for years, 415 chain, triple walls, tiny Castillo bars, 40lbs of dead weight steel. Bunch of little kids with big ass forearms.

Good interview! I was introduced to Troy with the Props Road Fools 5 movie (VHS) in 2000. I also got to meet/ride with Troy and Sammy J for the first time at the Old School BMX Reunion earlier this year :) . BMX is awesome!

I love Troy.. the reason I went brakeless, back in 2000. Ive messaged him a few times on Insta, always sends a quick response . I was luck enough to be touring in the US around 97/98. Driving through downtown Denver I saw a group of riders sessioning a wall ride by a huge church. He was definitely one of them or I like to think it was. .... Is this spot still there ? Big up Troy !!!

I always had problems with my brake cables snapping because Canadian Tire was the only source for new ones. I saw a pic of Gonz doing a barspin fakie off a tree and they pointed out he was brakeless. Then I saw Troy brakeless I ripped them off. Part of it was due to being too poor to order from Dan's comp, but we also did it so we couldn't puss out when hitting big gaps because we were also pretty obsessed with Dave Young.

Denver BMX scene is dope AF. I had so many good times back in the day riding with the locals and seshing the Jackson house. Troy's one of the guys who keeps me inspired to never give up riding. Especially riding trails. Shout out to Scott Fife and the move masters days 🤙
