You do not have to remove the exhaust manifold or the inner fenders to this job both mounts can be replaced in about 1.5 hours just by jacking the engine up at the converters and removing the starter to do the passenger side mount,

Would it be easier to do it with remove it the headers if I want to replace them with aftermarket anyways?

@@levibuenamea1779 Yes. But for the money, you're going to get way more performance from a torque cam than from headers.

@@stephendee7839 Here’s a doozy . The case/spacer that joins the trans to transfer case has cracked on mine twice. Within 2000 miles, both were new. The trans shop scratched their head. Now say mounts are shot. Truck has 200k miles so I would imagine but they want 1200 to replace mounts. I’ve done mounts and they are easy. I feel like they are going dealer on me

@@LESSspam80 I got quoted 495$ labor from a shop. My coworker called his friend and he said he wants $100 each. Not bad but I am thinking about trying to do myself as well as rebuild front end and some other stuff. Any money I can save at this point I need.

Okay I have a 2005 Yukon XL 5.3L 4WD. I was able to change the driver side motor mount without removing anything but the heat shield and the inner fender liner. It took me about an hour and it is not fun but totally doable for the average person. I used a 2x4 and jacked the motor up from the very front of the oil pan. The 2x4 fits perfectly between a cross member and the 4wd case. To remove the 3 bolts into the frame is fairly easy and straight forward I used a dewalt 20V 1/2" impact with a 9" extension and a deep 15mm socket. Once you remove those 3 bolts you can jack the motor up just be careful and go slow. If you go too far you will pull your radiator heater core lines and develop a leak of coolant. Once motor is jacked up I used a 3/8" breaker bar with a combination of short and deep 15mm sockets. No extension needed. The bottom left and bottom right and top left all require a short 15mm socket but the top right bolt requires a deep 15mm socket. Once broken free use a ratcheting wrench to remove the rest of the way. All 4 of my bolts once broken free actually threaded out with my fingers they were rusty bolts but the threads were clean I suspect the constant heat cycles keep them from seizing. Your milage may vary. Once you get all the bolts out you need to slide the engine mount up and to the right. Towards the rear of the truck. Go under the truck and where you see the drive shaft and the left side cat inline with the exhaust that is where you can jimmy the mount out the bottom of the truck. You may have to twist and turn the mount to get the right angle and twist that drive shaft a little but trust me it will work. New mount goes back in the same way old came out and from there you're all set. Good luck.

Remove the exhaust, plugs, heads, cam, steering, cab and cut the frame up with a torch. Don't forget to number the peices of the frame so it's easier to weld back together 😂🤣😅

For anybody looking, I took the 4 bolts out of the AC compressor and moved it out the way and mount came out no problem

Wow.... Did you remove the knock sensors and the rockers arms too? Reach over and take off the heat shields.. remove the three dang bolts that are a pain. Jack the engine up literally a half inch. Crawl under bc I got it like that... I crawl under... And unbolt the mount to the motor from the bottom... Pull out...that's what she said... And replace the mount in reverse order. Hardest part is the heat shield. This is a sure case of... We are going to have to charge you $200 for bolt extraction on your exhaust manifolds.. customer... Ummm it was a motor mount... Service rep.. well the book states....... Gotcha!!!!

I need to replace my mounts on my 03 avalanche and 99 silverado. Dont think it os necessary to remove the exhaust manifold, as long as you jack up the engine with a jack. Ill update once i replace my mounts.
