This video shows you how to install a new quality TRQ lower control arm with ball joint in your 2009-2014 Honda Fit. Control arms are a crucial part of the suspension system of your vehicle. They not only carry the load of the vehicle to the wheel, but they typically also maintain its alignment. Control arms are typically large and strong, so you may be surprised it needs replacing. They contain rubber bushings for smoother rides at the cost of eventual wear, or integrated ball joints that require replacing the entire arm when they wear.

It was a bear getting that arm back in place. Tuff getting those 3 bolts to line up. Gotta get those bolts started by hand first because if you strip them your gonna have a big problem. Once started, i cranked then tight with my high torq. Then i check them with my ratchet. They are plenty tight. I refuse to risk stripping them. I also forgot about using the pry bar that would have helped alot. Anyway, i got in back in place. Shes lookin good.

Living in the rust belt and living in a condominium where the car can’t be left disassembled. I’ve realized to crack each bolt loose to make sure I can actually get the part out. Control arms tend to have bolts that require cutting,heating,drilling here in the Midwest. Much appreciate all the videos you guys make it really helps

Did it step by step and the only real struggle was getting some of the bolts out bc my impact gun wasn’t powerful enough other than that pretty straight forward

How often should control arms be replaced? When I look under the car the bushings look ripped but so far, I have no noise yet. I am on 130000 miles

+Jose Vega There is no specific timeframe for control arms to be replaced. If the bushings are ripped, we would suggest having those replaced as soon as possible to avoid any issues from occuring.

My rusty car gave me big headache. When undoing the bolt, the bolt rust striped the thread in the nut, now it spins but can’t come out. The bolt became effectively a ball joint. Now I’ll have to cut the bolt and weld in a nut with right thread. Will take days if not weeks. Maybe I should’ve just lived with small knocking sounds 😂

1:33 Congrats, you just bent that part a little bit towards the back of the car. If you are going to replace the ball joint, then you should of just used a puller.
