Clicking with the knob is great as it allows precision on the SW band to get the frequency accurate

I have one of these, like this one, the DD2 version. It is a fun receiver although a bit rough around the edges so to speak (i.e. the ratcheting tuning knob, the delay when you turn it on). It has good sensitivity and plenty of volume. A nice throwback to the 1970s in the looks department.

I have this same version, got it for a “steal” at 32$ shipped new, all this time I thought was true analog, but now I am learning all about “DSP” quirks on KZbin, still a good radio, thanks Tom and friends 73!

This radio does not do well in noisy environments. Short Wave is decent but typical DSP quirks , and only the 1 band [ 6 MHz -18 MHz] can be a bit of a pain. Reception is not bad. This radio does excel on MW. Again , typical DSP quirks, but it does a decent job of locking onto the station. FM is also excellent. This radio is not so much for DXing, but a good radio for camping, long power outages, as the 2 “D” batteries last a LONG time. Great for taking to work, too. 📻🙂

I tested the CCrane EP PRO, the Sangean PR-D4W, and this Panasonic in a 2 week long outdoor environment during Winter in Texas with wildly varying temperatures, well below freezing to 70. The Panasonic failed to function in low temperatures and the volume dropped to nothing below 45 degrees. The other two survived the torture test. My Panasonic still works but not quite as well as before and the volume knob started failing afterwards.

I ordered the analog radio but got the DSP. It`s extremely sensitive on the AM band and will rock the block with its crazy high volume level on FM. However, my volume knob is scratchy as hell and developed that issue almost immediately. In very cold weather this radio shuts down and volume drops to almost nothing.

Sound quality in one of the best among portables on MW. It does not perform so well on SW.

Have this radio. Overpriced for its performance. Love the retro look. Use it for blackouts. SW is horrible.

Hi....shortwave is no good on it? Do you pick up any stations at all? I am on east coast USA and have some sw radios I enjoy listening to

@@JB-js4xi No sir this particular radio. I have many other SW radios that perform just find on the SW bands.

This DSP version is better than the Analog version, and they dropped the price to $40.oo (USD). The Analog version does tend to drift on SW. This doesn’t. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂

@@JB-js4xi The Short Wave is not the greatest, but it’s not terrible. It does excel on Medium Wave. FM I very good. Thanks for watching. 📻🙂

Mine performs very well on shortwave and is easy to tune. Mine is very close in sensitivity on AM to the CCrane radios.

Is the "D" or "DD2" version made in Indonesia like the Panasonic RF-2400D? Or are they made in China?
