Always good to see the progress, must say there’s always plenty of the workforce sat watching 😂

Thanks for the update. Looks like things are in full swing.

It's going to be an interesting little section of the project with all those bridges to sort in such a short distance

When I look back to the mid sixties train spotting at the old Wheatleys Colliery Bridge it was 4 tracks to Heaton Lodge and 2 tracks to Bradley Wood Junction. Admittedly the bridges and track all require upgrading but how much time and money would have been saved had it remained in situ?
@MrDodgedollarАй бұрын
Can’t get the electric catenary through ( under) the bridge aperture so has to go
@sarahandwillsАй бұрын
From the next bridge down from Wheatley's, I could see evidence of the double tracks to Bradley
@andrewreynolds4949Ай бұрын
They wouldn’t have been built for speeds greater than the current lines, so upgrading through here to higher speeds might actually be more expensive if the third and fourth lines were still in place, what with having to work around them

What is going to happen to the stone from the listed bridges, will it just be dumped or repurposed?
@sarahandwillsАй бұрын
Hope they can re-use it or perhaps even clad parts of the new bridges in it (although I sense that wouldn't be cost-effective). Truth be told, there'd be more of a case for keeping these bridges if they were in an area surrounded by loads of other stone buildings, but there are some huge metallic factories bordering the railway along the Leeds Road corridor
@a11cscАй бұрын
shame about listed bridges but lets hope they will widen colne rd 1 so as lorries dont get stuck on it no more
@sarahandwillsАй бұрын
Pretty sure I read that it's being widened a bit when the new structure goes in. Funnily enough, I had to wait for a lorry that was stuck when I went to get this footage.

When will you go to Bradford for an update?? Btw nice video like always!! I heard the Leeds - Bradford Line might get electrified!! 😮❤
@sarahandwillsАй бұрын
I gather there's been a bit more progress on Forster Square so I may try to get some video next time I'm out that way. Let me know if anything else has changed in Bradford area recently.

@@sarahandwillsThey are lengthening the platforms on the Airedale and Wharfedale lines. Last time I was through Shipley it looked done on Platform 1 but still fenced off. I haven't seen info on what they plan to make use of it. Presumably there are no spare carriages to lengthen the 333s so I guess running the 331s as 2x3 instead of 1x4? There might be some progress to see on the Crossley Evans site being cleared. And Keighley is being refurbished, but not much to see except scaffolding and wrapping at the moment.

Another step towards an uglier future. I welcome the principle of the upgrade but not at any price.
@sarahandwillsАй бұрын
I can certainly see your point. Quite a few historic structures will be lost or affected by major changes.

If the current mindset was put back to even 70 years ago we would likely still be in an enquiry type situation on, the M1, M6, The Humber Bridge, The Channel Tunnel, the list goes on. People are too precious about things. It's an unassuming bridge that likely 99 percent of the population have no care about or even knowledge of.
