Thank you so much for the help with both binding and using the cutting/crimping pliers. The first machine I received the power coil insertion unit did not work. Awaiting the second one now. Again, thanks so much for your help.

Great video. Can you use the metal coils??
@MommyShareSpace2 жыл бұрын
Hi Donnie B. Thank You! Short answer: Yes, once it's the same pitch size (4:1) with no bent ends. Long answer: I never purchased metal coils because of what I use my machine for mainly. And they are much more expensive. However, I had a Five Star, 100 sheets, 2-subject notebook with a 4:1 pitch and metal spiral. So I took it apart to give you a more helpful response. Metal coils seem to require a different crimping tool and\ or style of crimping. The crimper that came with the binding machine worked, but it took quite some effort to cut off the ends. So it seems to need something sharper or heavy-duty. Because it struggled, I had problems getting a clean cut off the ends to wind the spiral off of the book. Plus, the crimping style needed for metal coils looks pretty different, probably to ensure there are no sharp ends. And I could not achieve the same crimped style on the notebook with my crimper. But once the coil was straight, it quickly wound off using the coil inserter. I hope that helps. ☺️ Thanks for watching!

@MommyShareSpace3 ай бұрын
Hi, now seeing this message, so apologize for the late response. You probably figured it out by now but there is a notch to pull out the tray from the back to empty the paper. You can check out this video at time stamp 2: 40 ---> kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zny1YquAndB1Zqc

question can you uncoil the coil I want to use this for a personal genealogy notebook that is a daily use as you go
@MommyShareSpace Жыл бұрын
Hi. You can. But because you will need to cut the crimped edges off to do so, you may only get to re-use the same coil a couple of times (depending on the extra left on the ends) before you will need to replace it, or it will be too short. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hi. Thanks for the great video. I was wondering how you removed the spine of the book that you were binding. I am looking at buying a coil binding machine and found your video very helpful.

Hi. I used a guillotine cutter. You can also get books cut at places like the Office Depot for a couple of dollars. A cheaper option would be to carefully tear out the pages and neaten up the edges with a paper cutter like the Swingline paper cutter (I also use one). They are about $30-$40 on Amazon. Much cheaper; however, those have about a 10-page capacity at a time, while the guillotine can go up to 500. So It depends on your needs. The guillotine I bought was around $155 when I bought it. That same size is now about $250 (inflation!). Mentioning the price so readers can be on the lookout on Amazon! I am working on a review now that I have owned it for quite some time. It should be up in a day or two (if you're interested in seeing it). I hope that helps. Sorry, I now got around to responding, and thanks for watching.

I want to buy a binding machine,. The comb machine is so much cheaper than the coil machine, like 1/3 of the price, but I really dislike the comb. So, thanks for your video, I won't feel the only crazy mom investing this much money on this machine, I am sure the extra money will pay off ever time we pick one the books we bind with spiral coil. I just found your channel and I really like your videos. Thanks for sharing.

It is for plastic coils similar to the ones in the video. However, it is not for plastic combs.

Hi. Apologies for the late response. I have been MIA on KZbin for a bit. If you are referring to the colorful art books, I bought and cut them, so I could rebind them, making them easier to turn and use. So I did not print those. If I am printing pdf books, though, I use my inkjet printer. Not as glossy and pretty but works well enough. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
