MacPherson struts are designed as a space-saving suspension solution. almost all 2wd pickups have a double A arm suspension (wishbone). 4 wheel drive pickups of the time usually had a solid front axle with a leaf spring. that was right around the time that GM's independent front suspension (double wishbone torsion bar sprung) and FoMoCo's twin traction beam (extra long arm wishbone and coil sprung) systems were coming around. Tire diameter is too low for a full-size pickup. a standard tire is a 31x10.50-15... or a 265/75R15. 31 inches tall, 10.5 inches wide. metric conversions aren't hard. divide the first metric number - section width - by 25.4 to figure width in inches, then multiply by the second number - the aspect ratio - to find your sidewall height. there are 2 sidewalls on a tire, so you double it and add the rim diameter - the third number to find your tire diameter. 245/65R16 ~ 28.5x9.5 inch tire. as far as the engine goes, big bore, short stroke should give you room for bigger valves and high revving. a long stroke with a small bore will leave you with a wheezing engine, even though it has the same displacement. think of an anemic 265 (3.67x3) small block Chevy motor stuffed with a 400 crank vs a 400 (4.125x3.75) small block destroked with a 265 crank. the stroked 265 will come out to just over 317 cubic inches. the destroked 400 comes to just shy of 321. the bigger bore will allow for bigger valves to let air in and out of the engine. big bore, short stroke engines love to rev. small bore, long stroke engines are better suited for low rpms. I don't have this game, but I'd love to play around with the engine creator to see just how realistic it is. max power on engine dynos is usually achieved at 12.5:1. stoichiometric - if there is a perfect homogeneous mix of gasoline and air - is 14.7:1 air fuel ratio. leaner at idle and light throttle saves fuel but under load increases the risk of detonation and burning pistons. Most suspension springs are linear. they have a consistent spring rate whether you compress them 2" or 6" or more. it should take the same weight to compress it from 1-3" as it takes to compress it from 5-7". 100 lbs will compress it 1", 500 lbs will compress the same spring 5". a progressive spring has an increasing spring rate the more you compress it. it will stiffen the more you compress it. from rest, let's say it has 150lbs per inch spring rate. once you compress it 3 inches, it may take 200 lbs to compress it another inch. and after that, 225 to go another inch beyond that. in other words, the spring gets stiffer the more you load it. I have a set of progressive springs on one of my cars. i happen to have a pair of cars the same model and year. the progressive springs and upgraded struts do make it feel sportier than my stock car. I'm not sure about the last spring but I'm thinking it is some sort of fancy hydraulic spring as opposed to a regular metal spring. i imagine it to be the spring version of magnetorheostatic dampers. they are computer adjustable shocks with ferrofluid as the shock oil. electromagnetic coils charge and change the viscosity of the fluid and change the damping rate of the shock absorbers on the fly. cutting edge stuff. newer Camaro ZL1's come with that suspension system. keep up the entertaining videos.

Matt Kamin There are some trucks that had overhead cams back then, for example the 7th generation F-Series (1979-1986) had the option of a 7.5L engine that was OHC.

+WhyBeAre You can "roll coal" in a gasoline engine. Black smoke from engine's, gasoline or diesel, is just unburnt fuel being dumped into the exhaust system and being slightly burnt in the catalytic converters. Essentially, when you see diesels "rolling coal" they are just dumping fuel out the exhaust. Nice video. Keep up the good work.

+WhyBeAre Ford was the first (and so far only AFAIK) American company to have an OHC V8 and that was the 4.6L/5.4L Modular V8's released in 1991. They didn't get into pickups until 1997.

That tyre diameter number going from 85 to 65 just means the diameter was 85% of the width, so by putting wider rubber on you made the tyre diameter 65% of the width. Take my car for example, it came from the factory with 205/65R15 all round, but my rear tyres are now 20 cm wider than the front, but the physical diameter of my tyres are consistent all round. However the tyre rating on my rears are 225/60R15

The Unpredictable Jack not really, the matches are relatively short, and he does spend a lot of time on games to give us the refined contents. So it must be difficult to do a live commentary for it. Otherwise, I like that game. I am good a aikido only though. And if he can play Enemy on this channel, toribash shouldn't be a bad deal!

Something I would do to try and fix the wheelspin is to adjust the torque bias toward the front of the truck, rather than the rear. The main problem with the pickup truck is that they're extremely front-heavy, as there's nearly nothing in the rear to keep the wheels glued to the road, therefore, you get less traction. Whereas if you made the torque bias more toward the front, you have more weight to press the primary drive wheels into the road, and give them greater traction, and have the rear wheels more to just help the fronts with acceleration on more slick surfaces such as dirt and mud, or wet roads.
