Nice set up! May I suggest a few things: I didn't notice if your truck had a sway bar (often an option for a 'camper package'). If not, I would suggest a Hellwig sway bar. I installed one on my 2500 and it was easy, no drilling, and took only a few hours. Helps a lot with sway attributable to the higher center of gravity going around corners. Lastly, I have a propane generator/inverter. In hindsight, I would have went with a lithium power station, like an Ecoflow. Something large enough that I could run my small A/C unit for an hour or two, coffee maker, etc. We rarely need our generator, except for short bursts to make coffee or cool the camper off a little. Happy travels!

@@JeanieMarie I've watched so many of your videos! My husband and I are leaving Utah for a week long Colorado roadtrip loop next week. Mainly due to your videos I have a full itinerary of things to do in Grand Junction, Georgetown, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Canon, then on our way back we'll stop in Denver and Glenwood Springs! We're not campers but I could totally trade in our cabin for a setup like yours! Question for you, what will the weather be like next week? I've googled but just wondering your thought on what clothes to pack. Thanks for all the work you guys do to share videos!
@JeanieMarie2 жыл бұрын
@@thesassymom Wow! That's an AWESOME road trip! You're hitting some beautiful areas! I just looked at my Weather Bug App (install that if you don't have a weather app). Next week in Denver it will be in the 90s so you can expect hot in the Front Range (all the areas east of the Rockies - Denver, CO Springs, Pueblo, Canon). Once you move into the Mountains such as Georgetown the temps will drop. It's always colder in the Mountains. Highs will be in the 60-70s. Once you move outside the mountains to the West near Grand Junction - the temps will warm up again. So pack layers so you can easily shed clothes throughout the day. Have fun!! Again, you should definitely download a weather app so you can look at temps for each area you are going to and know how to pack. Weather Apps are great!

Nice camper! We looked at that model last year but since we we're down sizing from a big 5th wheel we ended up with an AF990 which is suiting us well. I'd add a hose elbow fitting on that sink drain port... it will get your drainage out another 2" maybe and could be enough to keep the drain water off your truck. You could also add (if not there) a 12v plug and then get a mini 400 or 750 watt inverter from Harbor Freight to get you some extra working plugs off your battery. That lake is where I want to be with my truck camper! Over here in Pa/East Coast there's not as much drive up fun as out there 🤬😂
@ToddStull2 жыл бұрын
Another thing I thought of... I'd look for a hitch rack step set up or even try to fab something that could be a nice step and hold a generator as well.

I have an 8' truck bed and have been looking for a slide in camper. specs I have looked at say this is for up to 8' bed and and its kind of nice to see one in a truck even if yours is a 6'6" bed... it would not hang out over the tailgate and that is what I am looking for so I can pull my boat also.

We did upgraded Bilstein shocks and timbrens...and we didn't need air bags too. Our payload of the truck is way over the weight of the camper ...so not needed in our case. Our timbrens are probably over kill..but we just felt better having them. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

@@JeanieMarie no, we are renting a camper van so looking for camping spots. Would love to do dispersed camping. Don’t know how to do it exactly or where to find the sites. Im assuming its first come/first serve. We will be coming from the Sprague Lake area, so in mid September do we have a chance at finding anything with nice views if we roll into that area at 4 or 5 pm? We could make reservations at a campground but not really interested in being right next to another camper. Thank you for any suggestions in the Grand Lake/Lake Granby area.
@JeanieMarie2 жыл бұрын
@@aprildolan223 Got it! Yes, dispersed camping is first come first serve and we just camp off forest roads. So just find Forest Roads that you are looking to camp near and start diving them until you find a campsite. The sites will normally have a fire ring made out of rocks. If you don't know what public forest land is then check out www.fs.usda.gov/visit/maps. Shows you all the public forest land in the USA! It's super easy!

you should consider an induction stove for your upgrade to your stove. you might have to increase your solar or inverter to power he induction stove.
@JeanieMarie2 жыл бұрын
I'll look into that. If not sure what that is 🤔 thanks for the tip.
@mjl97022 жыл бұрын
@@JeanieMarie an induction stove is an electric powered stove that only reacts to the metal of a pan but is cool to the touch with your hand. very safe uses no propane only electricity which is easily renewed by your solar power. no propane danger either. most RV manufactures are switching to these types of stoves because it also adds the additional benefit of being flush mounted with the countertop thus making more counter space in your truck camper.

@@JeanieMarie P.S. you might have to upgrade your solar set up (another Battery, inverter) to run an induction cooktop.

Does the black tank drain hose store on/in the camper somewhere or do you have to keep it in the truck? So the sink doesn't drain into the grey water holding tank?

First, let me me say that I generally enjoy your videos. However, I have noticed that when narrating you have a very bad habit of using uptalk or high rising terminal inflection. This is a speech pattern that people often don't even realize they are using. It often gets very distracting. Your videos would be much easier to listen to and much more enjoyable if you could manage to control this. The following video will give you a better idea of what I'm describing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpXLe6t3orqoabs
