Truck Camping - I Finally Bought A Truck Cap

The Adventure Begins! After a long 6 weeks of waiting, my truck cap finally came in. I've been very excited for this, but also a little disappointed because although its very functional. I feared it would totally ruin the look of my truck. However, now that its all installed i'm honestly very happy with how it looks and cant wait to start building my truck camping setup!

Yes! Finally I found a HD with a leer. We are picking ours up in a week or so. We have a 21 Chevy 2500. Using it four our dogs while we travel. Way more room than the back seat and… it keeps our truck clean.

Years ago I put a thule pipe rack on my fiberglass shell and it's amazing how much weight I can put on that thing, like a whole rack side to side with 16' 2x4s on edge. It's got the 3/4 galv pipe. (Mostly retired contractor).

Truck looks better and more sporty WITH that truck cap! Keep it on there even when you are not camping. It just looks better on the truck

I live in Ontario as well, around the Belleville area, and hage been looking for a straight back cap for my '17 crew cab 5'8" box. I love the look of a good cap.

Looks mint! Picking up a Z series ARE for my 2013 sierra. I want to do the same thing. Camp setup. I'm excited. I have no use for a open bed now. And nothing fits under the tri fold tonneau. This makes sense

Looks ok, everyone looks to be sporty looking which is ok for short people. SUCKS, that you have to move the cap after they installed it, I'da made them do it. My last cap was cab high and being 6'3, I swore to myself to get the raised cap no matter how less sporty it looked. On my 6'6 bed, my new Leer 180 looks good and FEELS great. No more bumping my head. I see you got rack rails too nice. My big desires were, 1. head room 2. Window screens 3. T hinge rear window so water doesn't pour down my neck when I sit on the gate to put on waders. Yeah, I got lining and the drop down rear window for easy cleaning and rack rails on top. Now to start my build. Good luck and have fun.

Question for cap owners, I am considering replacing my Tahoe for a truck, it would be more practical for hunting. but I definitly need a cap. Is the visibility of your rear mirror reduced since you have to look throught 2 extra layers of glass? Moreover, how bad is it regarding frost and fog compared to an suv? Manitoba winters are not the warmest.

Some added blind spots but still decent visibility out the back. Rear view mirror still has good visibility

Great looking truck after 6 long weeks of waiting! Still waiting for my own new A.R.E. MX Series truck cap with walk-in door to arrive from the manufacturer in Ohio. They said it would be 12-14 weeks. $8,000 for all the extra horns, bells and whistles. You lucked out! lol

Been looking into getting the Contour III for my new truck soon. Do you know/remember if the bug screens are standard issue? or do they come with the pet screens? I don't have a dog but can't decide if I want to spend the extra 120$ for the added robustness of the pet screen or not.
