Anton, I've just quit Bus Driving after a few years of doing the job. Fed up of the constant hassle we get from passengers/managers, abuse, terrible work-life balance and everything else. It was making me miserable and stressed so I bit the bullet and quit. I came to realise that the job wasn't for me. Great channel on here by the way!

Thanks Jamie. I understand it is a very tough job and we are not appreciated enough, unlike Tube drivers that get plenty of benefits, with shorter hours, better pay and less interaction with passengers.

It's interesting that now the minimum wage has been raised that bus drivers are just above this as a starting rate. I wonder if it will encourage better pay across the industry?

Well since I was a Bus Operator for close to 11yrs now Truck Driver, there are benefits and downsides to both. With Bus Operator Careers - Your local get to go home every night which is great. - Your bus is the company's job to repair. - Pretty much a standard Job situation. Down sides are, - Lots of people with varying attitudes, one person can smile at you, another person can be throwing a soda at the side of door just because. - me personally: I'm introvert I really didn't like have to stop people fighting doing on unintelligent things. (Real example) a person putting his leg out the back window, me having to act like their parents and tell them to put their legs back in or else it might get ripped off. I was a bus driver in New York city so I guess you guys can understand. Being a truck driver has its challenges but it's quiet you get to see new places your overall just doing your job on your own. I really like that.

Truck driver for around 14 yrs home every night worked in North West, South West and London and was a bus driver for almost 10 yrs prior. Biggest differences IMO trucks more control over your time whilst at work but less control over when you actually finish, navigation and route planning is on you in the truck since trucks don't have 'routes'. Truck driving physically harder with more waiting around but typically less actual driving but the driving you do is typically more challenging. Central London supermarket multi drop in an artic harder than driving a bus around the 406 IMO. Truck hours longer than bus on average and wages £60 -£70k pa is for the most part bs unless you're doing abnormal loads weeks away, dangerous goods or insane hours and probably all of these

Transfer to bluestar in Southampton. Do a month or two on the 18's. You'll hate it. Southampton at bluestar £24k plus. If you manage to get across to unilink you can earn up to £45k.

@@DoubleDeckerAnton my name was on the list when I started, I was #43. It took over 3 years to get to #15. When I started it was a 3 year wait. That's now a 5yr plus wait. Still it won't happen for me now they got rid of me. I'm welcome to go back but I'm not starting from scratch again. Also that £45k is working all your rest day's. Constant 13 on 1 off with pushing the hours to minimum rest. If you can maintain that then brilliant. I keep you updated on how I get on with hgv hours money etc.....when it all happens

I think with being a bus driver, you have to be more careful with how you brake, as you're carrying people.

I think bus driving is more of a professional type job where as truck driving is more a manual job. For example bus drivers just simply drive the bus and deal with passengers whereas truck drivers have to help out loading and unloading their trucks.

I have both licences C+E (HGV1) And D (PSV) licence. As a kid I lived in London and wanted to be bus driver in the days of the RT/RM Buses. Would love to drive for London buses but not willing to pay to go into London as I live just outside. Only hesitation to going over to the buses where I live is how to work out the fares.

Hi Anton, I qualified as a bus driver in July and am now working in the Midlands wearing a blue uniform. Like you, it was a childhood ambition and I feel like I was born to do it. I love the job on the whole but I do find the internal politics a little tedious so I try not to get involved in all that. I try to have a positive outlook which I think is a must. Considering the hard work involved in completing my training, passing my test etc i don't see me giving it up just yet! Love your videos mate, nice to see you back.

Ps, sound's spooky that the bus light's go out ! That's because it is nearly Halloween, the bus your on must be haunted.... I'm a bus enthusiast but don't think I could drive a bus, would require a huge task plus it is a stressful job and passenger's being abusive, I would be terrified.
