@breezieb3297 Жыл бұрын
@@LoseManIKI1Because there's peoples' homes on either side of the road??? Staying on the road when your brakes fail is ideal if there isn't a runaway truck ramp or a wide shoulder. He goes off the road, he quickly loses like 50% steering control of the vehicle, which means he can crash into trees, houses, guardrails, or ditches. He likely came to a slow rolling stop without much damage to anything by staying on the road.
@LoseManIKI1 Жыл бұрын
@@breezieb3297 do you have vision problems? Is it a street in Chinatown? does he run not a truck, but an aircraft carrier? he does not have high speed - even if he goes into a ditch, crashes into a fence - this is better than if he crashes into cars collecting scrap metal and meat on the way... Did he see that gap between the pickup truck and the bus? And if he wasn't there? Would it have crashed into a pickup truck - is it better than if it had veered down the slide to the green on the left and put the truck on its side in the worst case? It is obvious to me if the truck has failed brakes and the road is not free and there is an opportunity to go into a ditch - the truck driver must turn into a ditch so as not to collect metal and meat on the way

@@luiseduardovaldivia3510 thats why you have know how to drive a truck with too much weight, especially the weight in those type of trailers, to go down in a slope you have to chose a gear where the engine brake holds you without using the air brakes too much, if you feel that you are using the air brakes too much, you hit the brake pedal until the rpm’s go about 1000 to 1100 change to a two lower gears, sometimes when you do that, if you don’t stop the truck enough to make that change of gear you can miss the gear an the truck will neutralize and because you are in a slope the truck will be accelerating, so, what you have to do when that happens is hit the whole brake pedal, try to stop the truck as much a you can and try to put a gear in the engine and use the engine brake Now of course, always take your distance from the vehicle in front of you, if you see the stop lights of the vehicle and it looks like is going to be a complete stop, take your distance and time to stop the truck

@rembliekain7643 Жыл бұрын
Stellar? Really in a semi you down shift before you break. Also you have 3 break systems you have a service break an air break and an engine break then if and when all 3 of the breaks do fail after having slowed down significantly by down shifting you put it in reverse and gently tap tap tap the gass if you are at full speed and still on a run away you have already messed up your first 4 methods to stop in time. That said this guy may be able to steer well and was lucky enough to have a large opening and no kid walking around the front of the bus however you can see that from his level of panic he was not clear headed this is why truck schools with obstacle tracks exist. Even though many drivers are still buddy tought and may know enough to pass the driving exam but not enought to truly know the basics by any means. It's very unfortunate that this driver was able to get in to this position in the first place when a proper DoT required pre-trip inspection would have found and identified the unserviceable nature of his rig and prevented this in the first place.

@@joshuaharrison8113 The only way it could even be considered as negligence is if he drove this route daily and knew the exact stops of that bus. On average stopping distances of trucks that are fully loaded is around 400 feet, the bus at the start of the video which is slightly after you see the brakes of the car in front of him come on is 250 feet max (and thats being very generous) Not to mention its downhill.

@@Buttcheek_Gaming Ah yes, a place where dynamics rule far more greatly, especially once friction is dynamic and kinetic. Take a still controllable semi-truck (only just missing brakes) and make it unpredictably controllable. You hit the ditch incorrectly, your rolling over, you hit one of those trees or electric poles, your potentially throwing yourself right back into the school bus. Not all about damages to own property. He could just decide to plow right into that truck, better to take some people in cars than some children.
