TRUCK RESTORATION | 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT - Walkthrough | Start Up | Road Trial (2nd Gen)

Following its debut in 1978, the 2nd generation Ford Bronco was one of the most popular Bronco's in their 30-year production run. Built for only two years, the Bronco shifted to a larger platform and body-style sharing components with the F-Series truck while maintaining key off-road capabilities including maneuverability, and approach, departure, and breakover angles. In a time plagued by emissions restrictions and a downturn in vehicle appearances, performance, and quality, the Bronco managed to break the curve. To this day, the 1978 and 1979 Ford Broncos are wildly considered the best Broncos ever built and continue to live AND THRIVE on and off-road.
The Bronco in this video is a 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT. Originally painted white, the truck now comes in a beautiful patina blue with the original white fiberglass hardtop. The truck originated in Colorado but has sense moved from Missouri and Iowa to Maryland. Powertrain consists of a rebuilt factory Ford 400 with Weiand intake, Edelbrock carb, long tube headers, and upgraded valve-train and cam (unknown). The engine is mated to the original rebuilt C6 automatic transmission tied into the TP-205 transfer case. Up front we have a Dana 44. In the rear is a Ford dropout 9-inch rear end. Not pictured is upgraded 33x12.5R15 mud tires.

Hey it seems you dont have ac because you don’t have a ac compressor on it. I got a 79 with a 400 and and a 4 speed standard and looking at your engine bay your ac compressor is missing

For your first Ford, ya sure got a less than common motor. Basically a 351 with higher deck height/longer stroke. Should get good torque out if it and you can get those things to make 450+ horsepower. Sweet truck tho. Always loved Broncos. Never had one tho. Closest Ive had was a Ram Charger. Not as cool cuz the top didn’t come off. Whatever you do, hold onto it. I guarantee you’ll regret it if you don’t. Old rides are getting harder and more expensive to own.
