Engine, person in Levi's and a t-shirt engine! What a marvelous way to get 3rd degree burns, when the oil squirts out and burst into flame!!!! God bless the 70's!!! He'd get roasted to turn, from front and back!

Wanna do a whole segment of just the older 70s and 80s stuff. That would be great to see. I remember I went to my first tractor pool when I was eight years old in south eastern Indiana. It was at the Scott County Fairgrounds which is in Southeastern Indiana. I not only got to see tractors pulling but we also got to see draft horses pulling

Was relativ surprised how fast that thing took off

Not really "jet" powered per say. These are gas turbine or more specifically turboshaft engines that produce no meaningful thrust. They are made to create shaft horsepower. It took off like a rocket because of the high wheel speed they have and gas turbine engines don't immediately stop making power when commanded. There is a delay even with the emergency shutdown tripped when it broke free of the sled.

What the hell is blowing on a fire gonna do ??? Another video shows the fire crew casually walking up to a just exploded engine while putting on their protective fire coats. Some people need to re- evaluate their profession !!!

I signed up for being a traveling tractor pullin circuit as the "in the event of vehicle fire occurring, you are responsible for its extinguishing of aforementioned event..." fireman. It was a quality opportunity for me to display my knowledge of alchohol fires with no extinguishing equipment because the traveling event was not popular and nobody with money would come. Once this guy that had 2 american space shuttle engines strapped together to a common driveline on pure nitro with over 2,000 psi of boost. Well, it was so thirsty he needed over 500 gallons of pure 100% nitro methane to make a full power/ thrust pull and I'm not sure exactly what happened but it didnt seem to want to stay revving up top in the maximum boost zone. It later became apparent it was starved for nitro as the main pump that flowed over. 6 million G.P.M stopped pumping and the lean condition caused both russian made american space shuttle engines to grenade. Pure nitro feeding it at almost full capacity because it wasnt pumping. I was hit with a 24 cylinder section of crankshaft in the balls so hard that the sack popped and both nuts were destroyed upon their evacuation from my body. It knocked the wind out of me but I still had a job to do. Once I came to, I realised I couldn't breathe and I was in clear shock but went to that 'ol fore and started huffing and puffing on it. To no avail. From the trauma I had diarrhea that I wisely directed to that mean ol fire. It began to smother it but then It stop projectile squirting from my butt so i chose to go sit directly on that fire to do the job i had signed up for. It worked but I suffered great set backs plus, I had no balls or sack. I had been devastated by those flames it clear. My butthole now fused closed as the heat was so great. Did I mention I'm a hero? I am. A grand one. Having no balls is difficult but knowing I saved the lifes of like 6 tweakers and the 3 month old underdeveloped child is all o need. I married that child once it was of age. That was back in my 'nam days of past. I was fearless. A hero. Thank you. Bye but I'll continue my story and the struggles I overcame some other time. I'm sure youd love to hear it. How imva hero but suffer because of it. My sack is no more. I am though. I'm more than that bag was. I am. '

That motor ain't wrecked, only a minor oil leak and some paint burning. A lot of these events use pressurized water can extinguishers, and if you put water on there it would definitely crack up that custom made manifold and possibly damage more screaming hot parts. They use the water can extinguishers because you just fill em up to certain level then pressurize em to a hundreds psi. They're cheaper than using CO2 or dry chem extinguishers.

@@tomcline5631 I'm thinking ol boy or the OP isnt aware of things like heat, aluminum or other things such as using alchohol as a fuel and how it burns and how different those types of fires may be when compared to conventional unleaded fuel fires and the signature they give. I've seen folks stick their bare hands right into a methanol inferno from a fuel line that blasted itself off the rail from the AN fitting and was actively dumping gallons of accelerant onto open flame. Even as the flames were contacting their skin and clothing "damn its freezing right here!" Was their reaction until their nerves recognized that no, this isnt freezing but melting my precious fatty layer off and into a gloppy stink pool in my sleeve. Plus as you stated, aluminum is the main type of material high preforming blocks and heads are milled from. Open flame on hot over 220° degree chunks of aluminum equals = crack or chunk off. Best to fan away those open flame type mishaps
