Hill stall drill Bedford MK - keep going up until won’t go any further, let it stall, foot straight onto the foot brake, to hold it, hopefully. Keep foot on foot brake, select reverse, foot off foot brake. Restart engine with clutch engaged, and she sets off back down the hill in reverse, keep off brakes, so she doesn’t slide from underneath you. And try again. Forty years ago, from memory… 😀🤞

Hi Jay, I think your Sat Nav stitched you, at the tappas bar, Thorncliffe Lane, if you had stayed on that and not gone on the hill it takes you on a decent road and you hook a right on to blakey, couple of miles and that farm you went to is on the left. just a little tip from a old school driver, i am not sure how this would work in a automatic truck, but in a manual select crawler give it some welly and as soon as it starts to spin the wheels slide your foot of the throttle and slam it back on the throttle this got me up fosse bridge. thats one steep hill.

don't you just love automatic's, best invention since sliced bread!! lol. yeah they use the clutch a lot longer than you should with a manual car. like my car is still burning the clutch up at 15 mph, rather than changing up to 2nd gear, and getting gone from a junction. If all else fails Jay on getting up a hill, and you spot a place that you can turn around, then you can reverse up the hill a lot easier than driving forwards, due to the weight transfere from the back of the trailer to the front of the trailer will force the drive wheels into the ground.

Hi there trucker Jay I was just wondering if I could ask u 2 questions one how come you u put the numbers in the Satnav and also in that number thing in ur cab and question 2 is do u still do drop to Northampton if so I will keep a look out for u as I really want to meet u I think ur amazing person
@EddieTruckingAdventures3 жыл бұрын
The numbers in Jay's cab is called a height sign. In the UK it is a legal requirement. So if a trailer is 15ft 11 then that would be his overall height. For the sat nav question, the sat nav Jay uses has settings to put his wagon height into to so then he does not hit a low bridge.
