Hello Jay. Really good to see you living the dream, you'll pick things up as you go along but don't be afraid anybody for help. As regards to agencies at the age of 68 I went back to driving with an agency. It was scary at first but I stuck it for 4 years and loved it. Enjoy yourself mate and be safe. Snowy.

Sounds like good bloke to work for, sends you out not knowing how to load/unload the tanker and tells you to carry on when the wagon is playing up, especially saying no oil!!

Well as a driver you should be able to say "yeah that's fucked, need another one" when the engine detonates itself having run out of oil or just cooked itself after advice like that. That unit just seemed to be a total shed.

Jay, i feel for ya buddy. Ive just had exact thing happen to me last week with a tanker company and i was only on £9 with agency! Start full time next week. 4 on and 4 off, can't wait!

The fh series Volvo suffers with a fault where they oil pressure sensors get wet with oil. That it doesn't know what the oil pressure actually is, so the ECU cuts the power. Easy fix, remove the sensors, and clean them and replace the small rubber seals on it. When you said the oils coming up now, they're the exact symptoms. Up and down oil pressure Hope this helps Jay

I had a similar problem in a Fire Truck , turned out to be diesel getting into the engine oil through the engine some where . The diesel thins the oil and on hills my dash board light up like a Christmas tree . It went any four times and still had the same fault , although now its fixed . Not saying you have the same problem but its sounds similar .

Happened to me in a 7.5t isuzu. Wouldn't go into drive and was told to turn off and press red button to reset and it all worked fine. At the end of the day driving down the motorway at night I lost all side marker lights and tail lights, headlights were working fine. When the mechanic eventually came 5 hours later he fixed the problem after an hour and then went to go and it wouldn't rev over 1800. It sounds like it's a wiring issue wich is confusing the system and then cuts your power off because it thinks there's a fault when there isn't. One minute tells you ABS then OIL.

Trucker Jay In the UK They might have changed procedures, I’ve not been there for ten years. I repaired all the copiers on site. Every 6 months you had to go resit the safety video. Told you about the different alarms. One meant get into a refuge building, but one said if your in your vehicle, just get off site quick as you can. They would also be on the site roads with speed cameras, if you went over 10mph, you were kicked off site and not allowed back on for a month.

Hi Jay, my car has the same type of problem with the cruise control, I have tracked it to the brakes. every time I do heavy braking then it totally disables the cruise control until the ECU is reset with the ignition key. which means switching engine off, and all electrics until the mileage disappears from the display. then restarting the engine. whereas works fine if I do an emergency stop, or slow down slowly. then cruise control works properly as in pauses until resume is pressed. might be what was happening with the truck, as an idea if it happens again try restarting the engine for the cruise control when you need a break of course, or sat at some stupid traffic lights that force you to slam on the anchors.
@michaelthomas36467 жыл бұрын
Would also like to thank-you for some useful information about the ABS light coming on, I will have to record starting up the car later to see if the ABS light works. :), as I can't figure out what is causing my cruise control problems apart from braking heavy. :) as no lights come on, but the cruise control flashes to say that it has totally deactivated when braking heavy.

Rigid or articulated? I’m sure the reference to classes is in relation to your licence rather than the vehicle. As we know. There are rigid tankers and articulated ones as there are in all HGV vehicles. I know... this is a pointless post.... No ADR for this job, but I’m shocked they sent him out with no training. A leak in this tanker would put cooking oil everywhere and you need to know what to do. Not that there a lot you can do with 29,000 odd litres of oil pissing out 😂

If you got caught with your phone out or filming while you had that lid off you probably would've got a bollocking. Same reason why the guy tannoys you to put your phone away at petrol stations - small chance of it sparking and blowing the place up. Bit of a bollocks rule tbh, just don't get caught.
