My husband was a truck mechanic and I worked in a truck stop. Some of the guys are kind of rude and crude. But most of the drivers are decent people trying to earn a living. That's all there is to it. They need a little more respect on the road by these idiot drivers that cut them off and zigzag in front of everyone and cut off everyone. Then they blame the trucks. When in actuality the fault is a lot of times the car that cut them off.

The guest was not exaggerating when he said truckers could die if they get stopped in winter weather for days in an electric truck. Diesel fuel means life in the northern states and Canada. Some politicians need to spend a few nights in a truck at -20F with the wind blowing at 20 mph to know what I mean. In those conditions, an electric truck wouldn't even charge enough to keep the cabin livable.

My husband's company had purchased and electric truck. On its first delivery to San Diego, it could not offload the product, there was not enough power in the battery. Not only did it fail the delivery. It had to be towed back to Los Angeles 😂 with a diesel powered mega tow truck! And this cost the company a whole bunch of money, loss of faith from the customer, loss of income for the day, and they of course still paid the driver for his time. Electric power truck is a complete idiocracy.

I still carry the license but don't miss the frustration and B/S rules that keep getting worse. One big jump into stupidity was the edict demanding use of "Exhaust Fluid" and it's just gotten worse every time you turn around. I couldn't, in good conscience, suggest a trucking career to any young friends with this future lurking in front of us. The problem with all these laws is they do not know how things really work. If the powers to be had any type of mechanical background they wouldn't be so stupid. Tesla Semi 200-500miles depending on load. Amazon/Rivian EV vans 100miles+. Straight truck EVs < 200 miles a charge. These batteries will add 10k lbs to a truck also. 80k lb gross limit on most over OTR (over the road) trucks. Probably doable in 5yrs with the battery capacity doubling. Still need the facilities and charging up a truck takes longer than filling with fuel. = 5-10x the facilities that we have now.
