Then I heard, once his breaks gave out he just closed his eyes and hugged the wheel until he crashed. I want to see some corporate responsibility. This guy did not have sufficient training to do the job. He panicked, forgot his training and people died as a result. Who certified him? Who allowed him to get his CDL? Did his boss convince him to keep going when he himself wanted to stop (I hear that's a big issue in trucking)? There needs to be accountability put on the shoulders of the people pulling his strings. They need to evaluate the training program he went through.

@B Y the point IS he didn't do it with the intent to kill. A person I went to school with drove drunk killed someone in the process and had a year between prison and halfway house. His breaks failed and his reaction to the situation might not of been there and fast enough. I would actually like to see a video to judge when he realized his breaks went out and to actually see the dull footage could give more understand to the situation. Even if he freaked and missed the turn off ramp, he should not have such a sentence when worse gets done and nothing happened. Like my neighbors choking his girl and her stabbing him 5 time puncturing a lung. Not one thing got done about it and there still together. So explain how they sentence people. We're human and have emotions. So freezing in a damn scary situation if that is the case calls for 110 years. NO. Mainly for the fact this could happen to anyone and most would react In the same way. If something like this happened to me I would like some mercy. Because every single days it would Torment me and would probably relive the situation every time I closed my eyes. Well some murderers can/will get away if judge offer from $100000 to $1000000. If they don't pay, they stay in jail. When the judge doesn't offer the bond, sometimes he decided the minimum sentence for first/second degree murder of 30/40 years in prison. Otherwise he/can punish the felon from 50 to life. In another scenario, like the truck driver's case, is "manslaughter," which can be voluntary/involuntary. It was unpurpose, just an accident. The judge can decide and penalty for this type of crime is from 2 to years for each ind. I agree that our legal system needs to be changed. Everything has to do with our government, fiscal, and congress and we can vote, but not fight for it.
