When a truck passes me a 70 mph while I’m driving 68 JUST TO GET OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT DRIVES ME NUTS

thats too funny, ya, thats happened me too
@bicyclenerd.937710 ай бұрын
Mostly likely at night and that exit is going at a truck stop. Trust me that guy wants to take the last parking spot available before you can take it.

When a driver is doing 54 for ever, I am governed at 59, I decide to go around, My nose gets up to his door and he realizes I am there then suddenly descovers his gas peddal and speeds up not letting me pass, pulling ahead or worse, matching my governed speed, then I have to back off to get behind him, then 10 minuts later he starts going 54 again and the process repeats. Don't be a dick. If a guy is passing I let off the gas a little, if you say oh crap I did not realize I was going so slow, if they guy is about to pass, do not gas it, let him pass, and if you want to go faster pass him after he gets round then maintain your higher speed this time.

Ten minutes? More like 10 seconds after you pull back behind him!

When there is no other traffic around, you don't need to come back in front of me as soon as you clear the bumper.
@davidrussell874810 ай бұрын
Don’t stop on the shoulder of a limited access freeway such as an Interstate Highway. Take an exit and then stop on the shoulder of the exit. This prevents the traffic from having to funnel around you and also gives you an on ramp to get up to speed to safely merge into traffic.

I hate it when another truck passes me and cuts right in front of me and leaves me with no room. Especially on a downhill. So dangerous!! I always flash lights for them when they are clear and gave me enough space, but 90 percent give me 8 feet of room, yet are the 1st to complain about 4 wheelers doing the same thing😢
@Be-ek9vi10 ай бұрын
Unless you have a medical emergency, steer blow out, brake failure, engine failure...DO NOT PULL OFF to the shoulder of any roadway and then just pull out into traffic with no shoulder build up. Look at GOS for next off/on ramp and pull off there!

The land whale racing definitely annoys me. Another is semis tailgating me knowing I'm in a company truck that is governed. I've actually had fools get angry at me because I'm going too slow for them. They'll pull up within 2 ft of the rear of my trailer, then shoot out into the hammer lane, then damn near clip me with their trailer. That drives me nuts.
@EllieODaire10 ай бұрын
Only 3 I'd add: don't tailgate; don't run right at your speed limiter all the time, drive a little tiny bit slower and save your last few mph just for passing; and DONT DRIVE UP NEXT TO SOMEONE WHILE THEY'RE BACKING
@randgrithr738728 күн бұрын
I always back off for slightly faster trucks, but never received the same courtesy in return. So I drive at my limiter until I reach someone going
@EllieODaire27 күн бұрын
@randgrithr7387 my pedal speed and cruise speed are 3mph off, so I generally just run the pedal speed and save the last 3 for passing Prime and JB Hunt trucks

If you’re in a fuel lane at night and trucks are parked facing you turn off your headlights while fueling. Some poor person will go blind trying to pull out.

Thing I hate the most is when you are cruising down the road and come upon another truck that's traveling 5+ mph slower, so you get over to the left lane to pass them and as you get about parallel, they decide to accelerate to the speed you are going (governed at), which results in you both clogging up the road for 10-15 minutes sometimes. If they were going that speed from the beginning, You'd never have attempted to pass them. 😠

The one that gets me is when there's a truck going slower than you, but downhill, he lets it get up to 75. As soon as you're on level ground again, you're playing leapfrog
@babyitsnatural10 ай бұрын
Well... in my experience the guy who is going 0.5 mile per hour faster than me is going to relax once he gets in front and then end up going slower than I am. Then once I try to pass him, he'll realize that he's going slow and then he'll speed up again to go 0.5 mile per hour faster then me. Then guess what? Now I'm stuck in the passing lane like a jackass. That's why I just keep driving when I see people who know they are struggling to keep up with me in the first place, trying to pass me.

If I anticipate a truck is heavier and will not be able to complete their pass by the next hill, I quickly drop 5-7 mph. It's safer to let them finish their pass than to block both lanes. Conversely, I don't attempt to pass people when grossing 78k approaching a hill. It's not going to save any time hitting the base of a climb 3mph faster.

When there’s snow/slush/ex. on the road and smaller vehicles are obviously having issues DON’T FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PASS THEM AT 50-60 when they’re all doing 45. For one you could break their windows with all the shit you just kicked up, and for two they’re going 45 on an interstate for a reason. Your truck might weigh 40k lbs and be great on snow, but that 2k lbs focus or 4k lbs pickup simply can’t
@taylendeen54135 ай бұрын
This comes from someone who’s seen and helped with WAY to many busted windshields or vehicle accidents along (OR) I-5 because truckers know they can go faster. I mean, YOU can, but at what cost?
@Michael_Livingstone6 ай бұрын
It would be so nice if truckers could stay in the right lane and not be allowed to pass another truck unless truck in front is doing less than 90% of the speed limit.

Some of your tips seem rather self interested. Just because you have a light load doesn't mean the rest of us are second class citizens. On the one hand you ask us to show patience, but why don't you show some patience as well and wait on the heavier trucks going up the Siscus mountains? This coming from a guy who used to haul Budweiser around that area. Btw, they don't give us longer deadlines just because we're heavier.

If you're in a section of freeway with a left lane restriction, PLEASE don't camp out in the middle lane. I don't care what you're governed at. There's always gonna be someone behind you who needs to be going faster. Don't force them to pass you on the right.
