Second week in a row we are seeing some positive signs in the freight market. It seems like the DOT Inspection week had a longer lasting effect than I had initially thought, and now we are waiting for trucking to turn for the better as we enter the produce season.

Fuel prices always go down for holidays. They’ll go back up. Uncross your fingers. Unless you want to keep them crossed. You’re the boss of yourself.

rates still garbage, nothing to cheer about…..check DAT board and see plenty of flatbed loads “ trending” for $1.25/ mile ( one twenty five). Same rates paid in 1978 when fuel was 50 cents a gallon.Truck stops are packed, junk trucks running wild being affraid of “ no missing out” in hypothetical “ rebound”.Most of the “ truckers” are wearing flip flops and translating using the phone when engaged in conversation at the fuel desk.Being so new in the business you don’t really know what “ good trucking business” is.Let me give you just a quick example-16 years ago, after running 2 ( two) roundrips from CA to NY produce market -you can buy a brand sparking new Honda Civic after extracting all the expenses. 20 days work and you get yorself a brand new car. Or run strady for about 1 year and you get yourself a brand new house, paid in cash.Truckers changing ALL 18 tires one time, cash price. Not used and recaps like today. Everybody was eating lunch and dinner at restaurant. Too hot or to cold outside and annoyed to idke the truck-get yourself a nice motel room evry weekend on the road.Get a load to Las Vegas? Spent 2-3 days there staying in a nice hotel and enjoying the nightlife.Have 4 kids going to college? No problem, plenty of funding for all of them, in the same time.Need to change the furniture and setting for the entire house? Easy task, go on the road for 2 ( two) wekks and everything smells new in the house.And so on and on…. And you think the garbage we live today is almost good?And we see “ small improvements”?No, this is minimum wage slave work in the hope of “ getting rich overnight”. That ship sailed long ago. What is left is a Mirage. Embraced, mostly, by the new third world wannabe “ owner operators” who can’t find their way without GOS or Google translate.As I said before, America is rapidly accelerating into a “ Canada style” trucking-one in which the entire driving force consist of poor educated people coming from third world countries.It’s over, this is just the agony…

I believe , it doesn’t matter how high rejections grow, truckers are going to haul for what brokers want to pay . I use DAT to find loads of, but I don’t pay attention to the rates . I run if I get my rate . I’m the one doing the job , it is not the broker .

Great content, thanks. I'm wondering if you could do a video comparing truckstop to DAT. I personally like Truckstop but have both. Not so much comparing the load boards, but whats on them and what they say about the market. Do they mirror each other our do they say two different things about capacity and volumes

Looking at patterns I see where the most people moved to are Texas and Florida. This also where people with money or alot of consumers and better state economy. So basically the two states with the best economy and cost of living are Texas number one and Florida number 2 but they're basically neck n neck

I do not understand why you would deadhead so far? Can't you find another load nearby for an immediate backhaul? It is important to create efficiencies in your lanes. Deadhead can also be dangerous because an unloaded truck weighs about half as much as a loaded one. When these trucks are not weighed down by a load, they can become HAZARDOUS in inclement weather. So Deadhead is not just costly but also dangerous.
@deborahibrahim8419
@deborahibrahim8419 27 күн бұрын
And that is the most important factor in considering the deadhead miles before going. The weather. An experienced Dispatcher considers all potential problems before dispatching. Non experienced Dispatchers only considering their own percentage/pay; who will book anything just to get a truck rolling. There's plenty of Dispatchers out there who do not have a clue of a single trucks expenses nor fully understand safety issues.. Hence, "Forced dispathing"... Know before you go!

I agree, don’t take cheap freight but what do us carriers suppose to do just sit and make nothing? 9/10 if I bid correct price it will not go through because of others cheap carriers. I think now it’s just a waiting game. Not everyone has the luxury to dip into their savings. I have emergency savings but I refuse to dip into that.
