Another great collection of fine lorries/Wagons thanks Christopher.I think a big shout out to all the long gone and retired older drivers for the graft ,stress,the cold nights in” cab hotel” rope and sheeting in all weathers ,chasing return loads, Driving with no power steering , no heaters, very poor pay ,not seeing your families and just like my dad you did your work without missing a beat …

How true,the driver’s today would never cope with the vehicles we had then and all the roping and sheeting that had to be done,I never saw one female driver in those days 60s,tough old days and not much pay for the work involved and the weather conditions we had to endure.

Good old flatbed work, We did it because there was no choice, no tait liner, no box , You learned on the move, ears, and eyes open, and kept your mouth shut. Thanks, mate, informative as always.

I keep watching your videos searching for Range Transport trucks..... found one so far. Pretty big London firm back in the day -20ish tractor units and about the same hiab 4 wheelers, amazing how they all just disappear with barely a trace. Happy days though, thank you.

My dad drove a flatbed Leyland Comet like at the start of the clip, there was a beauty to a sheeted and roped load, that you just dont get with curtainsiders and the like, i passed the cat c two years ago and c + e a week ago all those years in the other seat, wether i use it or not a lifetime ambition fulfilled a driver just like dad.

I started with Ropes and Sheets on Flats and Veg Cages, its nice things have modernised but the attitude of Drivers has changed and not for the better in my opinion, if you try to show some a bit of a better way they go into One as if they know better already, I was taught you can listen in politeness then it up to you what you do because One day you might be stuck and need help,
@truckman4175 Жыл бұрын
@@clintdavies491 not at all just saying half the drivers nowadays wouldn’t have a clue if you gave them a flat trailer with an awkward load cos they don’t have to do it we used to sheet all sorts of loads from steel lead pallets of pop to wool sheets it’s just a dying art ohh and I did used to carry chips now and again but they were callled potatoes at the time
