Being a young boy in the 70 , s. I couldn't take my eyes off the Volvo f88 and and f89. Truly a awesome looking lorry. Rowe and co in Cornwall had a fleet of them

Nice collection of photos. Even today while traveling between Greece and Turkey I have come across some Volvo F89 at work, in short distances, without heavy loads, but still today a valid truck used daily. He made Volvo history.

Hello there. The Volvo F88 and 89 were a very popular truck at that time. Probably one of the best long distance and multi-purpose trucks on the market at that time, along with the scannia 141.

In the 70's, truckers went all the way to the middle east with these trucks. Gone for weeks on one single trip at a time.

I have a Tekno f89 wagon and drag ASG Spedition from early 1970s, nice to see the real pics of this truck, and a couple of Morris Marina's appearing in some other pics😂 Great vid.

That Irish registered 89 at 12.50 I drove when it was about 18 months old . I'm pretty sure it was the last one sold in Ireland by McCarthy Commercials in Cork.

This was the first truck where maintenance and repair time was taken into the design. Volvo realized that repairs and being not operative cost a lot money for haulers So they made design so that the engine and other components are easy accessible, this resulted into the fact that these trucks were more efficient and cost reliable than their competitors. This truck set the standard and believe it or not it was originally designed for the American market, but during its development the rules in America changed and the cab over was not longer interesting for the Americans.

There s two Trailor's fans . A turkish and a swiss. The 89 of Geoff Gilbert is very nice. The 88 and 89 were very goods trucks. But with a rough suspension.

It wasn't a propper F89 unless it had a bucket hanging from the bumper. And possibly a front screen full of wavy hands.
