Tate & Lyle operated a fleet of Fodens that delivered bulk Sugar. But my Father wouldn't dream of calling him self a tipper driver. 😅

I'm I'm 59 years old and only av a car licence, but watching the videos of all the old wagons and listening to the music puts me in to a reflective state of mind that takes me back to beening a young lad, I would stop my push bike to watch a big old wagon go by and the noise as it drops a gear or two to make it up the steep hills around my area of Yorkshire. Thanks you for up loading the videos mate.

In the early 1960s work started on the Victoria Line tube tunnels and stations, this would create millions of tons of London blue clay, that would require transporting away from sites across London. Hall & Co bid for a lot of this work from the contractors, they bought a new fleet of Guy Warrior six wheelers with 11-yard aluminum bodies. The clay was transport to the dredged gravel beds around Waltham Abbey. The central London site had it taken to Croydon in London. Halls had made a smart move and bought a disused brickwork. The clay went directly to the works or to the now empty clay pit for later use. I used to load these trucks at the Tottenham Hale site, with a Matbro Mastiff pivot steer loader, powered by a Ford 6-cylinder turbo engined machine. It took 3 mins to load each truck from a stockpile, the truck drivers were on trip bonus, and so Halls would give me half a crown for every truck I loaded before 7am. I would get in early just to get some extra beer money. My boss was happy as the yard was kept clear.
