Thanks Lo. Years later and these videos still helping the newbie flatbedders. Been driving 5 years now but got into flat 9 months ago. Omw to get my first Cat load now. Thanks again for all the knowledge 💪🏿

About time people show how to properly tie down. But don’t forget, if the unit weights 10k or more, you must tie down at four points. Two in the front and two in the back.
@mikeiversen82956 жыл бұрын
Up in Vancouver b.c. They want four chains on anything with tracks and a fifth chain over the bucket/forks/boom.
@sgtrock28214 жыл бұрын
what it you got 3 Khomatsu dozers weighing 16K ea? You'd need 15 chains. You carry 15? I took that load to Port of Seattle from FIlmore CA. I had to buy two chains. Put 4 on each dozer.
@lawrencemacdonald94543 жыл бұрын
Your exactly right mike.
@rustrtal3 жыл бұрын
@@sgtrock2821 You would need 15 binders. You can use one chain and usually catch 2 points (in the lower 48). This was changed a few years ago, you just need slack between the 2 tension points. If he would have hooked his binder to the rail and chain to a tie down point on the machine, then use the slack to do the same thing on the other side... The CAT 259D does not weigh more than 10,000 pounds so in this case, 2 tie downs are sufficient and the boom does not need to be secured.

instead of moving your binder to adjust tighteness, move the hook on chain by stakepocket. easier to move plus its equal to only half a link . So you can make finer adjustments.

This is incorrect! People, know the regulations that govern your area of trucking BEFORE trying to educate others. This is ESPECIALLY true for open deck and oversized transport. The methods and procedures for flatbed securement are outlined in 49 CFR Part 393, Subpart I; Protection Against Shifting and Falling Cargo (U.S. Rules). Canada uses National Safety Code Standard 10. Stop relying on “trainers” as the sole informational source! EDUCATE YOURSELF!! This video is a prime example of how one trainer can create a snowball effect of bad information and practices. What did LoShawn do wrong? Trusted his trainer(s) and didn’t verify the information he received. He compounded that by posting this video. So, what’s the correct method of securing a SKIDSTEER or any wheeled or tracked piece of machinery; REGARDLESS OF WEIGHT?? AT LEAST, four tie downs (typically, those will be direct tie downs). What LoShawn has done is counted as a SINGLE, tie down. Now, he could use the single chain method with two binders (one on each end) per chain; slacked in the middle, but, he only used one binder per chain and no slack. Lastly, his chain routing “appears” to be exposed outside of the trailer rub rail. That’s a bad practice, as it exposes the tie down system to damage and potentially loosening. Anyway, that’s it. Guys, it’s important to know what you’re doing. Take pride in your knowledge just as you would in the cleanliness of your truck. If you’re an aspiring flatbed trucker….if you’re not the type to continuously educate yourself by seeking the latest regulatory guidance; DON’T DO FLATBED!! Laziness in flatbed is a recipe for killing yourself and/or others. As for LoShawn….don’t get in your feelings over this; you just didn’t know at the time you posted this, some years ago.✌🏾👍🏾

@TruckingwithLoshawnParks6 жыл бұрын
Mike Cowan good luck with putting 4 damn chains per track skid steer. Ain't nobody putting 16 chain on a skid steer. Sorry. I don't give a damn if your parents was tought by Jesus himself, nobody in the word puts 4 chains on a skid steer that weighs all of 4k.

Totally wrong!! Bad video! Check FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER and DOT regs. Need 4 binders for 10,000 pounds or more. Your chain loses tension and you have lost two sides. Bad move.
@TruckingwithLoshawnParks6 жыл бұрын
RAUL HOGLAND man u know how old this damn video is man? And that federal motor carrier book u reading dont know shit. Go read a TRUE load securement book from a person that does load securement.
@meds4all6 жыл бұрын
10,000 wheels or tracks require four tie downs. IE four binders. So the original comment made is correct, now they may not be heavy enough to fall under that provision in the green book or double talk and fines. Also a aluminium rub you can not hook the hook to the pocket as you did. You can with steel pockets. Now plenty of drivers do it and get away with it, I never have and never will.
@davecalvo19396 жыл бұрын
LoShawn, you my man don't know shit Raul is 100% correct, ask any DOT official, you NEED 4 separate points of attachment for a load over 10,000lbs
@dougkennedy16 жыл бұрын
Not only that, when he was done snapping his binders the chain angle had changed and the chains were up against the paint. Stupid video.
@chrislangdell1175 жыл бұрын
The 299d is over 10,000 pounds for sure. It needs a minimum of 4 tie downs. Also saw a 259d on there. Not sure on weivht believe its around 9500 pounds. And as much as those machines cost? Most over 100 grand. I would put as many chains on them as I could for sure. Glad you werent towing a D9. 😆
@billygomez40736 жыл бұрын
You did alot of unnecessary crap that isn't needed like 3 spaces crap..and then you stick your arm to grab the chain and what happens if that arm leaks down at that time..and then none of those arms are down all the way either.. whoever taught you how ..taught you wrong..and you didn't do the front like you explained bc it's under the arm instead of between the arm and the track..that's wrong for sure...ROLL TIDE

Works smart not hard and what I mean by that is you double worked if you would have took your chain Wow you was down on the ground and And took the majority of it except maybe 5" and just Threw it to the other side then you could elude your hook and your firstpulled what slack you need out then by the time you walked over your chain was already on the other side to loop the other hole without 2 go down in the middle like that just saying
