Loving your videos, i just retired after 45 yrs trucking mostly local p/d so calif, ran OTR 43 states in 1976-77 but could only stand 2 winters back east, please stay out of upcoming heavy snowstorm areas, I broke down once in Green Bay during a blizzard in 1977, delivered in Chicago when -8 degrees, never went to Maine only as far north as Boston, delivered 3 times in NYC, that city is a real adventure in a tractor trlr, except they wouldnt let trucks, site see around central park, and watch out for low bridges in Northeast

lol you Americans bit of snow&ice and you shut it down(sarcasm). I invite anyone to try calgary-edmonton with 2x53' lcv in the winter every day, negative 22F for several weeks straight. Every day you're dealing with frozen brakes, perma black ice, insane winds... Dispatch sends you out no matter what the conditions they dgaf. Seen trailers blown off the highway thru blizzards and ice, cant even stop to help cause you're at the same risk, dispatch likes sending you back with empties🙃white knucle driving the whole shift. Could only stand that for 2winters, any other winter driving comes ez after that bs. Never been to NYC yet with trk/trailer I'll be happy if I can avoid that place for the rest of my career though, that is it's own nightmare I imagine :)

You should avoid touching pneumatic and high pressure lines when doing an inspection, if there is a small pinhole it can inject the fluid into you from the high psi and you have to go to the hospital if it happens. Love watching the videos.

I’m retired NYCDOT Emergency Response, 100% of our over height overpass truck strikes was because of drivers following Online maps (google, Apple, yahoo) and gps units for passenger vehicles (Garmin, TomTom) invest in a Garmin dedicated commercial GPS. Keep trucking and be safe. PS keep it updated!

Allix my man, the on ramps are to speed up to traffic speed and merge. Hills or short on ramps will have run ways for heavy trucks that can't geddy up .

used to work out of the lot "Flynn's" that you grabbed your Maine load from. I haven't seen that lot in more than a year. The Schneider lot is straight in to the 'upper lot' I'm OTR now and getting into my own truck in a month. Just got my own Authority and everything. You found out you can't drive into Boston, they have drop yards and docks for redistribution outside city limits. An Ottawa or Autokar registered yard truck will pick up an drop off trailers in and out of city. Don't feel bad, you don't want to go into downtown ever with your truck.

Alex I’ve been loaded as high as 78k lbs and I’ve found the sweet spot for the tandems to be at that 10 foot marker i put it there and 99% of the time I don’t have to mess with them no more after scaling just put the 10ft arrow in between your tandems and you are gucci 99% of the time

So many of my local roads are like this. I'm in central maine. We are famous for lobster, potatoes. There's mountains, but a lot of people do come to Maine actually:) it's called vacationland. It's normal for us to see 18 wheelers in town everywhere local.. You really didn't come into Maine tho you were still in southern maine

@ALEX THE TRUCKING GUY I'm sure you've checked, but does GARMIN have a setting for "truck routes only" ? It seems GARMIN routes you through a lot of residential areas, which can be trouble in New England with all those low overhead bridges!

garmin in a truckign map, there are some areas that truck can pass through legally, the ones they cant it wont show... that being said he doesnt not need to follow google maps advice, only to see the shipper reciever,etc not the route, google can mess a trucker up if they arent careful

Myself, I've only used RandMcNally's truck gps's, they have never done me wrong. I started trucking before gps's became prevalent and affordable, teamed with the wife for 15+yrs, she HATED Garmin's, so, I've only run RandMcNally's.

If he has a truck GPS it should but should never trust GPS and definitely not Google maps best tool is a truck atlas

The satcom you have has a navigation GPS at least for U.S. Xpress has it in the system where you have to follow the route that they set up for you

I'm looking at getting into trucking as a career but was told by a trucking outfit to complete these two things before I can attend there cdl training and be in contract with them for 1 year and 100,000 miles! Your scale ticket was weird because you wasn't fully pulled on the scale. You pull up to where you can reach out of your window and push the button. I'm assuming your trailer wasn't all the way on the scale because you stopped short

After 21 years over the road, I have done everything in the industry possible. I've literally hauled high explosives through the cascades and rockies at night many times while diving the night on my shiftm it never gets better and proving something to your dispatcher means NOTHING and the shipper doesn't give a damn either. Litterally, just look out for yourself, learn hoe it works and bad the customer's will to fit your own, litterally ALL pickup and delivery times are negotiable. Don't worry, you'll knebe fired, just do what You want and let dispatch know, they'll adapt. I promise thos works every time.
