Until drivers band together and fight back against these brokers....it will only get worse. Drivers MUST get absolutely medieval with these people. A website with a national database should be created to publically name and shame these brokers. Call them out and bring them out into the open. Let them feel some real heat.

Half these guys out here are just steering wheel holders or some who ran out and bought a truck during the Pandemic with no knowledge of the industry. They had no idea what they were getting them selves into, thinking they would make it big! If anyone who sees this wants a good Brokerage then reply to me in the comments. We got two trucking companies doing different stuff, but we have our own Brokerage which is an Asset Based Brokerage Company and we just Registered the Trade Mark. We have our own trailers. No other broker does that and we make sure stuff is not being double brokered. If we catch you double brokering that's it and you won't be paid. 0 TOLERANCE! Stay safe drivers! :)

it's illegal to band together like that, there is a reason monopoly practices illegal. what is legal. you hold each broker accountable who is doing fraud you blow whistle you file lawsuits lets the courts and govt agencies hold them accountable.

Brokers have further destroyed the industry. They serve zero purpose and offer nothing over going direct. This industry has been in the tank since deregulation. Been in management for 30 years in the business. And the continual surge of brokers entering the business will just make it worse.

The trucking industry held me for 4 months. I figured out quick that it's not worth working in an industry in need of such massive reform. "Debt peonage" couldn't be more accurate. "Indentured servitude" would be a good term for it as well. You would not believe how many of these companies try to get brand new drivers to lease trucks just to be indebted to the company. It's a predatory system that robs the workers of their livelihoods. Many of these people have little to no education and don't see it coming until they're underwater and out of options and that’s why I had to make research about governmental grants and hired a licensed professional grant writer who helped me in securing a grant and I could start up a real deal for myself.

I got my CDL in 2019 from CR England and I speak from first hand experience being a truck driver is a God-awful profession. The pay for truck drivers is beyond terrible, the highest paying trucking job I had only averaged out to about 14.50 an hour. I could go on and on but I don't have anymore time to give the trucking industry. I happily got out and im not looking back, the fuckin robots can have the trucking industry. i just launched a small business and would be needing funding, is there by any chance you could recommend the grant writer you hired

People/companies at the top more interested in lining their pockets without concern for the companies that deliver the product. It is not capitalism but " cronyism " brought to us by socialism. All the drivers are independent business contractors and could use guidance on operating a business, what we don't need is unions. Thuggery didn't work previously and as a result unions declined to just government employees.

For me it was a whole bunch of issues. Companies love to cut corners. 16 hour days, 6 days a week, time off requests for medical appointments/vacation constantly getting denied, constant harassment from DOT/Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, having no life, being treated like an object, etc. I hung up my CDL back at the beginning of 2023. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. & of course these same companies are saying “there’s such a driver shortage! No one wants to work anymore!” No, no one wants to work for YOU anymore. Drivers are starting to fight back & are done being treated like they’re just another number. So most of us quit! But remember, everything’s “always the driver’s fault” lol. I’m done with an industry that’s completely broken.

We need to figure out how to eliminate the broker! They are not needed at all. Shippers would save way more money if they worked directly with the carrier. Brokers are a cancer on the industry. THEY NEED TO GO!

@kisht7469
@kisht7469 10 ай бұрын
@@chardin1900 Why are they needed? The shipper cab easily have an employee within there network to post loads and negotiate with direct carriers. They will save so much money in the end if they did it this way. I had a broker pay me 300 dollars for a 17 mile trip. When I got to the delivery, I asked the owner how much he paid the broker. He told me 600 dollars! The broker took half of the money! I was able to work a deal out with that owner, I work directly with his company now and do that run for 400. He’s saving money and him and I both are getting a better deal. The broker isn’t needed.
@kisht7469
@kisht7469 10 ай бұрын
@@All-purpose How so? When the shipper can work directly with the owner op? Owner Operators don’t need brokers. If most weren’t lazy, they can do the foot work themselves and get direct shippers. What I do is, I learned how to take customers from brokers. When I do pickups , I find the dock manager or owner. I negotiate deals with them directly. I found success in doing it this way. Or, one can go around to warehouses themselves or call. There are ways to for owner operators to get direct customers and eliminate the broker. It takes time and effort, but it can and should be done. The broker need to go.

Being an Owner Operator is worse than working as a company driver. Unless you have some fancy contract like Aeronautical or High end Auto transportation. I drove for 8 years in the 90's and into the 2000's and was away 2-4 weeks at a time and barely made $60K a year. Living out of a cooler for food to save money for my family. The job sucks royally, people treat you like dirt and you deal with all the terrible drivers and in the winter the terrible weather. Best move i ever made was to start working for the chemical plants i was delivering to. So for all the comments about $60K that was Canadian Dollars when it was like $0.60 CDN for $1:00 US dollar so around $40K US$ a year for sleeping in a tin can for 240+ nights a year!!!

ITS FAR MORE CHEAPER FOR A COMPANY TO HIRE ON OWNER OPS THAN IT IS EMPLOYEES DRIVERS NOT NOT HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF EMPLOYEES. NO WORK COMP TO DEAL WITH, NO BENIFITS AND BONUSES TO DEAL WITH. PROBABLY ILLIMINATES AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE INTHE OFFICE FOR A BIGGER COMPANY. OWNER OPS CAN'T JUMP SHIP AS QUICK AS A EMPLOYEE CAN. THE OWNER OP HAS MORE BILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO TAKE CARE OF. LEASE TO OWN OWNER OPS IS THE BIGGEST MODERN DAY SLAVE PROGRAM TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE TRYING TODAY. DO NOT EVER FALL FOR IT.
@malo7375

so 60k in 2000 dollars is 108,000k in 2023 dollars accounting for inflation. I don't know what state you live in but in my state of Wisconsin, 108,000k will go very far. While yes you will be living in your truck for days at a time, the payoff is very worth it. Granted I have never driven a truck and I am 19 in college, but a career as a truck driver looks very rewarding and I am sure your family will be very appreciative of the lifestyle you can provide on a six-figure salary.

Great video, I was a trucker and really didn't know much on growing my earnings then i was working. Truckers grappling with the difficulty of meeting essential expenses often encounter this situation due to inadequate savings during their working years. The decisions taken in readiness for retirement carry extensive consequences, as demonstrated within my own family dynamics. Differing investment approaches yielded disparate results. Guided by a financial advisor, I'm currently retired and still earn monthly from our investments.

The real problem is there are too many trucks and not enough freight. 10 trucking companies are fighting for one load, why would the broker pay more if the next guy will do it for less? Brokers make as much as they want because it’s a free market, they found the customer and have the contacts to shippers. Once enough trucking companies close down the ratio for trucks and loads will balance out and rates will go back up. This is simple.

As somebody who used to be a trucker I can tell you the reason why I quit is because we are working WAY too hard for WAY to little pay. 70 hours a week for less than $1000 before taxes is insulting. WE WERE MAKING LESS THAN $12 AN HOUR. Even McDonald's employees make more than that. EDIT : There seems to be some confusion in the replies so to clarify, I was paid by the mile. The company would brag about making "$1,000 a week". Sorry I wasn't clear. ($12 an hour x 40 hours = $480. That leave 30 hours overtime x $18 an hour = $540. $540 plus $480 equals $1020.)

Depends on who you work for. I spent 10 years at about that with it increasing every year. Left and came back 3 years later and the oay scale went up substantially. Now I'm making 7 figures and the benefits are better as well. My. Only gripe is the equipment because I don't like automatics. That's because of the way they're programmed and we're unable to put them in manual mode. So the damn things shift all the time, it also shifts when it shouldn't and doesn't when it needs to. I've told them numerous times we need that ability to have better control when on rilling 2 lane roads or bad weather.

Simple fix is for all those who are able to, to go on strike for a month. Set industry standards that is fair for everyone. If a company is paying $1000, the broker should be paid 10-15%, trucking company get paid the rest so that the operator can have enough to eat, upkeep his truck, and pay his driver. Or, just create a system/app where you can bypass the brokers, and the companies can deal directly with each other.

Big manufacturers and retailers see the value in purchasing auto-drive electric trucks and these will be on the roads soon. As a commercial driver of 37-years with the last 17 as an owner-operator, this past Sept '22 I called it quits and walked away. I sold my trucking equipment within a week and within six weeks later packed up and moved south. I'm still driving but now in a tri-axle dump truck getting paid by the hour. The downside of dump trucking is the weather for which it has been very wet down south with storms one after another which means I'm sitting at home not getting paid. Work will return but it hurts financially sitting idle. The freight side of trucking got to the point that nearly every load goes through a 3rd party broker who takes the lions share of the haul rate and by the time it trickles down to the trucker who does all the work, there is very little left and certainly not enough to run trucking equipment, pay a bank note, make repairs, buy parts, pay for fuel and insurance. My last 3 years during the pandemic was my best ever but once the flames began to die down and haul rates returned to normal, the cost of doing business (fuel, parts, repairs) remained high to continue trucking so I got out. It's hard to continue a trucking business when everyone has got their dirty fingers in the pie, each taking a piece, and the person doing the physical work getting peanuts. Then there is the other side of the coin where American born and raised truckers trying to make a living, competing for loads with all these undocumented/illegal foreign drivers working for practically nothing. Where as an American trucker needs $1,500 to move a load, the foreign drivers will do it for $300. Do you now see what American truckers are up against?

It's $200 now smdh these people shouldn't be allowed to drive here if they are going to continue to kill the market! I'm sick of it! A Freight Brokers should fear putting any load out for these prices it's criminal!! Yet no regulations for Brokers just more regulations for truckers

High fuel price , high insurance , low freight volume on spot market and high capacity leads to low rates and low profitability.Combined with high interest rates and high inflation will put small trucking companies out of business. For the mega carriers it’s a different story .If they go bankrupt it’s because bad management and also because they wanna get rid of Unions Every time the small carrier is fueling his truck someone on Wall Street it’s pocketing the fuel price increase. The problem with the small carriers it more complex that it seems .

Bingo! People have forgotten, you used to get on a load board 3 years ago and literally be the first person to call about that load all day. Now, freight has dropped but the amount of trucks added to the industry hasn't. So now, it's 10 independent carriers subconsciously fighting over 1 load and the broker sitting back letting em do it. It's sort of the same thing in real estate. Inventory is low but the industry is saturated with realtors, wholesalers, etc all trying to sell/buy the same house lol
