I enjoyed this video so much ! I'm disabled now , but I used to run most states East to Texas. And North to Michigan out of Ga. My home in Rome, Ga. But had to leave trucking. P.S, I used to drive a high vehicle which also had $WD, so spent a LOT of time here in NZ driving the Otago/Souhland areas during the depth of many a winter's night in which I encountered many a snow storm, or EXCEEDINGLY THICK "pea-soup" fog. After driving for many years previous with a car with roof mounted high-beam driving lights, I can attest to the difference they make, when falling water/snow or dense fog is about. Even during the day when the sunlight is obscured. TURNING OFF, the main vehicle lights that are producing a glare into the inclement weather BETWEEN your eyes and the road, having a set of MUCH higher mounted driving lights (or as I later fitted, bright yellow fog lamps) - having the LIGHT higher above me, meant I could easily see the road and everything off to each side, a WHOLE HEAP EASIER, and further away, than trying to view anything through low mounted fog lights - or even through low mounted dip/mains. The problem being in most instances being that you do NOT need to have a reflection bouncing back from anything between you and the ground, which occurs when the lights are partway between your "height" and the road, so - consider mounting "high-on-cab" driving lights (good for clear weather long haul driving) that can be operated completely independently of your main headlights (either dip or main beams), so that when you encounter VERY HEAVY/DENSE fog & snowfalls (even heavy rain/sleet), you can LIGHT-UP the overhead falling crap, which will in turn bounce the glare back down onto the road, and not UP into your eyes. Try it, you may like it as much as I did. Plus on a clear night, having lights mounted high above, removes all those nasty DARK dips in the road ahead, as you will never be higher than the lights.

The thing that bothers me at almost 70 years of age is....despite that FACT that Trucking is ESSENTIAL to this or any nation....I hurt me to see how the business has been treated...and the reputation of the truck driver is diminished. We used to be Urban Legends. People used to trust us to help them drive on the highway in bad weather. When I was 6...my father followed the various trucks going east, all night, all the way to Boston on family vacation. Don't ask me how I remember that. That was 1960........be well.........

4:30, I know it's 2 yrs old, but at that stage - you desperately needed new wiper blades, especially that one on the right of screen, as it's almost NOT even working, leaving most of the small clumps of ice/snow at the bottom of it's arc sweep. Not all replacement blades are equal, some are only made for wet summer city roads, others are made of more durable, stronger rubber, to tackle heavy snow & ice conditions. It sometimes also helps to have the demister ON at a high heat setting.

There are some strange people out there. One afternoon I was in Virginia going through the hills and there was a guy in the left lane keeping pace with a semi doing exactly 65 mph in a 70 mph zone. He was driving a little pickup truck with a cap on the back and he would not let anyone pass. Anytime someone would get up on him he would throw his flashers on and start bobbing and weaving acting spastic. Well, after about 10 mi of that crap I had had enough and I know it's one of the biggest no-nos but I passed the guy on the shoulder of the road just to get by him, the guy was flipping me off and acting like he was out of his mind when I went by him. I don't know what's the matter with some people. And it was a nice clear sunny day like 80° so I don't know what his problem was.

When the two trucks passed you about 32:00, I thought they might have 4 wheel drive as you had suggested earlier, and remembered my electric 4-wheel drive option on my 150 Ford. In snow conditions like this, I preferred two wheel drive to make steering easier and independent of the driving wheels. I could use the throttle to keep the rear behind me and a light input on the steering to keep the front aimed straight without power over-ride. When the throttle and steering were combined, the steering suffered. When the driving wheels slipped, they all slipped and an offroad excursion resulted as did the pickup at 36:01. I, too, preferred the deeper snow for steering control. My Mustang tires are too wide for good snow control, so I stay home now, and enjoy the snow driving with you, riding shotgun. All the best to you and I'll see you at the creek.

Exactly! those people do not realize that they are just making things even more unsafe by piling up in a big group like that and then only using one lane. I just made a comment above, yesterday I was coming out of the Cleveland area and it was coming down pretty good but not that bad and there was a cop trying to keep everyone at 20 miles per hour which was ridiculous it wasn't even that bad and everyone was piled up together in a big group which makes things even worse. I eventually got around everyone and was able to do 45 mph safely and then quickly got out of the snow and it became clear going west. They think by controlling the speed and keeping everyone piled up like that is safe and yet it's the other way around it's a recipe for disaster I have 28 years of driving with no accidents or tickets and it's because I try to stay away from big groups and just stay in the right lane and mind my own business.
