By the way Mike I want to tell you I really enjoy your style of the videos you upload. I used to be a long-haul driver before I retired and I appreciate going along for the whole ride. Seeing highways & byways I haven't seen for awhile. Most of the drivers fast forward between cities. That I don't like. Hell what they're speeding up is the best part to me. Keep up the good work Mike, I for one really love your videos.

Hey david. I have a question. Can one survive alone on trucking? Do they pay 50 grand a year? And did you get clean toilets? Thats the part i hate! Do gas stations or truck stops have nice toilets?
@davidboehringer57504 жыл бұрын
@@jacobsinger97 After a few years experience you can make about $80,000. If you own your tractor you can pull about $150,000. The modern truckstops they have today are clean and very nice. They have shower rooms all to yourself. And the rest of the truckstop has movie theaters, barbershops, restaurants, fastfood, and all kinds of other stuff. Very nice.

Thanks for the memories, lived in Flagstaff from '86 to '91 and drove these roads a lot, having lived on and by the campus, the Mall, and in Moutainaire. Hope to retire in Arizona when the time comes...miss it's natural beauty but not the heat, that's why I high-tailed it to a university in the high country after going to high school in PHX. They built that flyover from W40 to S17 while I was there, used to be a cloverleaf. To think I drove around that town in a RWD '79 Ford Granada with bald tires. Found myself going sideways on Milton Road once, and blew through a few stop signs, before learning the value of snow chains. Camping was the best.

I was at NAU from 2013 - 2017. My favorite place I have ever lived. We had a 39 in snow my final year. It was fun walking down the middle of Milton before they had the plows out in the middle of the night. I loved how I could be in the forest on trails within 5 minutes by bike nearly anywhere in the city.

Mike, Thank you for letting Me ride along with You. I enjoy the Travel a great deal. I am a Guy from Jersey that moved Torrance, CA on a Nursing Assignment, and spent 10 years there, then moved back to Jersey. I reflect upon driving the I-40 about an Hour, or Two East of Albuquerque driving West, and I found a White Out Snow Storm. at about 12,000 Feet Elevation. I couldn't see, and I couldn't stop because I knew I had Three 18 Wheelers behind me. Over the course of an Hour I let the Trucks pass Me, and when the Third Truck passed Me I hugged His Bumper for about the last 30 Miles until I got to Albuquerque. I was thankful the Restaurant in the same location of My Lodging was still open when I got registered for the Evening. Once again Thank you for allowing Me to admire Our Beautiful Country. Peace By With You, Eddie

I used to have followers in inclement weather when I drove back in the day, Mike. I think some folks are happy to have a weighty big rig clear the road slush off so they won't slip and slide. The ones I didn't want following from behind were the flatbed tow trucks with continuous rotating roof-mount light beacons operating in dark of night. After I passed him on Interstate climbing Eagle Mountain in my big rig I had a tow guy follow me for miles at night operating 1 of those roof-mounted rotating lit beacons, couldn't lose him. The light show gave me a headache. Weird how there's only two vehicles going 1 way in a measured 5 miles and it's this scenario. At least it wasn't on black ice....that's another story.

Mike, I truly thank you for the ride. I am leaving southwest Arkansas for Arroyo Grande, CA and definitely taking I-30, 20, 10 to Desert Center and up to Ludlow and I-40 and on to the coast. I will watch the weather and may stay on I-10 to I-210 and 134 out to 101 and up. Thanks again for the ride. I miss those days but relax knowing that my route can change as fast as the weather or faster if someone invites me to eat because I don't have a time schedule any more. Stay safe, enjoy the ride and keep sharing the ride with those of us who enjoy our recliner ride.

Snow in Arizona indeed! Some winters Flagstaff will have the highest total snow of any city over 50K in the lower 48. A couple years ago the wife and I decided to weather another night in Albuquerque because a storm was coming - it ended dumping a record 40 1/4 inches and shutting down Flagstaff for a day. I worked in the IT/communications field support for a large electric company. One December we had our snowcat towed to Williams and we spent a night in a hotel there because a storm was coming. In the morning we woke up to travelers all over the lobby floor and more than 2 feet of snow in the parking lot. We made it to the construction yard where we picked up the snowcat and drove it all the way to Bill Williams Mountain. Ah, glory days!
