Well Nick, the cold harsh reality of a tough freight market bit ya, sorry to say. Not to overstate the obvious but researching the freight in your potential destination area will help you decide if you want to go there, and how to rate your trip (round trip miles?) instead of taking what is offered. Also, you can never replace time or the earning potential of that time so after one day of waiting for a load, consider moving to an area of better freight options. You have fixed costs that increase every day you sit and a hundred gallons of fuel gets you a long way bobtailing. We learn with time and experience what areas to go to or not to go to, and when, but certain rules of thumb will help you avoid the dreaded week long layover. On the bright side, your whip is sparkling. Travel safe.

I’ve been sitting more than working since about October 2021. It is kinda amazing to me when people are just now realizing it’s getting slow in trucking. The guys who ask for big dollars get hurt first in a slow economy. Stay safe everyone.

Back when we were getting .72 cents a mile I took a load to Denver for a 1.50 a mile then sat on my a## for a week then took a load back to the left coast for .50 cents a mile . Man hate that. January is always a slow month for freight. Wish could of caught up with ya. Was looking at some box vans in FT Worth, but prolly won't fit on fifth wheel. Lot of pipe loads out of Houston but got to have a trailer. Hang in there buddy!!!!

Get a all aluminum 53ft step deck with ramps with a slide axel if you don’t want to deal with the 17.5 I would get a 22.5

You said you have a Canadian load, be sure to check the wheel base laws in Canada, I think it is a max of 288" with a permit, I dont think any provinces allow any longer than that.

Check out Sho-Motion out of Denver, CO. They run concert and event trailers all over the country. Mostly flatbed and stepdeck. Already strapped down just hook and go. Rates are generally above average .

Hey Nick, you should look into the knight/Swift logistics load board. I don't know what it takes to get on there but I know that they have a lot of loads and it may be helpful in those times when you can't find anything else off your dat board or whatever you're using.
