my husband was a truck driver - northern cal to southern cal. he has retired since 1994, and so enjoys watching your videos. since he is disabled, he loves it specially when you go to familiar places, routes. i used to ride with him, to keep him awake. that didnt last too long, because the sleeper always called to me as soon as we were on the highway! thank you so much for bringing him fun and fond memories

Drove and retired long ago.... paper logs, Chauffeurs License, and Dr. Pepper..... really like watchin' your videos, brings back some good memories (and tough drives)..... I was a regional dedicated company driver so I didn't have all the worries of a 48-state owner-operator, and it was what I consider a major factor in 40 years and 4 million miles without an accident. I must correct your one statement where you said "rain is never a truckers friend".... I loved running in a light rain because everything always ran cool and you rarely worried about tire blowouts. As a flatbed driver though, it wasn't fun unloading in the rain!! Keep the shiny side up Jack, and we'll keep enjoying your videos!

I worked night shift in a Supermarket for 18 years (retired). At 7 in the morning I would leave and always look at the great 18 wheelers pulling in to unload. One morning a load had shifted in a trailer and me being small I squeezed in and fixed it. The driver was real happy not having to return and lose a lot of time.

I watched this on 6/23/2018 - You had a lot of subscribers even in early 2014, and that's pretty darn good for just starting out. I thought I run back thru some of your videos I have never seen. I surmise I didn't start watching trucking videos and subscribing for at least 3 years back. However, your channel is one of the better ones that I subscribe too. ......... Canada is loaded with Tim Hortons, that trucker Josh is always stopping there, he's from Manitoba Canada which is pretty far up north. .......... I've always enjoyed riding along with you Jack, past and present.

Hi Jack: Does anyone like getting under a Rig to Inspect?? Here's an idea.....buy a set of Coveralls and a Creeper. They would store under your Bunk. If you wanted to look at things from below, just find a flat smooth Piece of Concrete, put on the Coveralls and lay on the Creeper pushing yourself around under Ole Red! Both are Write-offs so are cheap! Do a little Greasing, look for loose Wires, look for anything rubbing through....know ahead of any Problems rather than no knowledge and having to call a Tow Truck. On a day off, get under Ole Red and tighten all the electrical Connections and look for Wiring that may be loose in the Terminals. Vibration will send you to the shop, however, there are things you can do like tightening things. If you had been on a Creeper, you would have found that leaking Air Bag long ago. If doing a check in a quiet Place, you will find Air Leaks quickly! Anything like low down Clamps can be checked for tightness and any Leaks will be easy to see.

I'm in Massachusetts, and I've seen a Tim Horton's in Woonsocket R.I. And there might be a few other places, but I haven't once been in one. I remember when Dunkin Donuts used to be just a New England donut shop, mostly Mass and Rhode Island, but now they're all over the country. We still have Honey Dew Donuts. I think Honey Dew is a bit better than Dunkin. Their donuts are bigger and the chocolate on the chocolate frosted donuts is better than Dunkins. I never buy coffee at other places. To me, most coffees are horrible, like battery acid. I make coffee at home when I want some.

Hello yjack, I am a retired German trucker. I have been in more than 20 European countries. Trucking in Europe and the States is a little bit different. We have to make a 45 minutes brake. One can seperate the 45 minutes into a minutes brake and a 30 minutes brake. You don't find such big truck stops in Germany but there are many smaller truck stops, sometimes more than 10 at a strech of 100 miles, really exit by exit. They all have excellent and cheap food. But they are not combined to a coffee shop company. I always enjoyed the Dutch coffee "Douwe Egberts", an excellent brand, better and cheaper than German coffee, although German coffeee is very good. I disliked British coffee. That is brown water I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing your videos. Greetings from Germany, Paul

I like the 30 minute break. I know i will catch flack from many truckers. but having to stare at the road for hours on end can break someones brain if you know what i mean. taking a 30 minute break lets be take a breather and reset myself for a bit,. i usually take the time to get out of my truck and walk around and breath some fresh air without being in a truck bouncing up and down.

Jack, question for you sir, at about 20:30 you stated you put yourself on line 1(Off Duty) for fueling, I am under the impression that fueling is a truck related activity so therefore you should be on Line 4 (On duty Not Driving). Am I mistaken?

Most interesting video, thanks. Quick question: I have heard that California and other West Coast states have had relatively little rain or snow fall [or at least less than normal] this winter and that there are real prospects of water shortages and risks of major wildfires. Would you care to comment seeing as you seem to move through many of these areas quite a bit?
@xJuanx66111 жыл бұрын
hello, I'm a local California driver out of Bakersfield area, a lot of familiar places you were at, anyway, I don't know how it works when you renew your CDL from another state but if you needed just the written test the DMV in Shafter, CA (about 7 miles from hwy 99 if you take Lerdo hwy) is fast and you can park on an empty lot about 500 feet away. (so that maybe a better place if your early enough to get there before it closes) personally, I'm not a fan of eating those kinds of gas station foods, we don't get much exercise, I try to make good choices I like to stop at spotlight 29 near the T&A were were at in Coachella and make sure eat a salad from the buffet, or if its fast food eat chicken or fish and stay away from french fries by swapping them out for the side salad.
