Hey Martin, when you change from one bucket to another just put your thumb over oil pan hole while its draining in first bucket, then slide buckets less mess that way
@alecmccance8409

The reason manufacturers don't want you to prefill the oil filtre is because the risk of contamination, if you want to prefilled make sure you don't pour the oil down the centre hole but temporarily plug this up and pour the oil down the holes on the outer of the base, the centre hole is the main pick up.

Have you ever thought of fitting a two stage oil filter bypass system ?. I fitted one to my semi 3 years ago and swear by it. I still do my oil changes sooner than they recommend. So I did not do to save $$$ but to get better protection for my engine. I have my oil analysed every second re-fill, and so far reports have been very encouraging. Worth a look at if like me you like to take care of your investment...

I worked at a truck stop doing PM services for around 8 years and I always filled up the oil filter and on ISX oil filter I had a gal jug with the side cut out to help drain the filter. I put the Oil filter on by hand with a quarter turn with and oil filter wrench

Totally stoked to see you both feeling better, and on your feet. I am very grateful for this tutorial on Tiny Dancer, I knew larger engines... especially diesel engines held more oil, bit I would have never guessed 10 plus gallons. I pray that the worst of the weather has been a distance from you, and very relieved to see you and family have been safe, and I continue to pray that all of you remain safe from that insane weather. I also pray that all of you have a complete recovery and healing from the galloping crud. Much love n prayers, Mayhem🙏💜

I do our oil changes sense one time wife got back , I seen a oil trail on the ground. I popped hood & the filter was just loose enough to leak but not poreing out. There's this one guy every time he changes my semi trk oil he over fills it, I asked him why. His reply was more oil the better. I've heard that can blow out or make your front or rear main seals leak so I drain it just to the full line

The age old debate to fill the filter or not. I was told by my shop fill them. They usually have me run it about 5 minutes while checking for leaks. Now my fuel filter goes on dry just lube the gasket then cycle the key 5-6 times and she fires right up. Not a fan of those valves because on mine it would hang off the bottom but yours looks like it doesn’t hang too low. I’d also have to get two because I’ve got front and rear sumps. But hey it works for y’all that’s what counts. Informative video

Good info on the oil change! Always a wise idea to have an adjustable wrench on hand. Whenever anyone asked to borrow one, I'd ask if it was metric or SAE. Always a goofy look on their face 😄 when I would ask them that question. And yes, they work very well as a hammer - been there, done that. Hope all is well at home and Alice is feeling better and over what she had. Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Hope the freight market holds up.

I have seen the fast or fass system mount on the driver side with 2 filters would that replace the one on passenger side?

I have a 2024 579 fuel efficient x15. It’s saying I need t5 oil. It’s supposed to go 50k miles. That seems crazy can I run t4 in this engine?
@TruckingTogether
@TruckingTogether 4 ай бұрын
Don’t go 50k miles, it’s insanity, I know that’s what Cummins says but with a single oil filter and all the egr they use it’s no good. I went about 25k miles on intervals but it was getting 8mpg, after sampling that’s when the oil started showing life of slight break down on viscosity. So usually around 22-24k it got changed. If you’re not getting 8mpg and run fairly heavy I’d say I would change at no more than 18k. I don’t like synthetic or synthetic blends which is what T5 is, I usually ran Delo 400 conventional 15w-40 but now they quit making it so I went back to T4.
@Elhajmalikshabazz
@Elhajmalikshabazz 4 ай бұрын
I’m getting 9.5 mpg I run extremely hard but I also run light loads 75% of the time. I just can’t find anything on the internet to tell me if I can run t4 instead of t5 which Cummins recommends. Does your 579 recommend t5 also? What year is it?
@TruckingTogether
