I've heard from a very reliable source that the new model will be offered with the 2.7 as well as the 4 cyl. I've also heard the manual will be a returning option as well. Now, if the manual will go behind the 2.7, then that will be a treat.

Since you asked Steveo! Things that I'd like to see is a) the manual from the Bronco paired with the 2.3L engine as the base powertrain. b) 4 position transfer case 2H, AWD, 4H, 4L as an option of all trim levels. c) the 2.7L engine from the Bronco as an option on all trim levels. Those three things would be a plus for me. Also, you should talk torque at the same time you mention HP since these are trucks the torque numbers matter a lot too.

Yes, especially the base 2.3/7-speed manual combo. I think it has to be a no brainer, the Bronco is the only other vehicle they use that in (at least in NA to my knowledge) so they have to have envisioned using it in other vehicles to bolster profitability.

The days of the manual being a base option are long past, with mass production making the automatics cheaper and the efficiency allowing bigger engines while still meeting fleet CAFE requirements. I would just be happy if it was offered as a (reasonably priced and NOT bundled) option across all models and trims of Ford vehicles with the 2.3 and 2.7L engines.

I have a 2021 Ranger XLT 4X4 Super Crew. The only thing I hope they change is the way the transmission tries to be in one gear to high. Between 25 and 45 MPH it shudders unless I put it in tow haul mode. It needs a bigger fuel tank. 18 GAL is not enough.

The chicken tax, the recession in the 20 teens, and Ford almost going bankrupt. Ford is still recovering from what Nasser did to the company in the 90s, and has to guard any high profit models. Then the covid plandemic caused massive supply problems and introducing the new model would have been too hard to pull off in the north American market, especially with the EPA and safety standards here that no other market has.

Big touch screens with limited important buttons or switches is terrible and distracting. No thanks on that! I cannot wait until that trend reverses. I agree with another commenter - put the 2.7 somewhere in the lineup. Do not need an all electric version of a Ranger either just get a good PHEV option.

A plug-in hybrid with real electric range would be a very interesting truck/power-generator. Add a 7.2Kw or 9.6Kw power inverter to power a job site and this becomes more interesting for XL/XLT trims. I don't care about luxury trucks at hyper inflated prices. Do away with trim levels and let me buy the features I want just like a Transit Cargo Van. Ford can still put their desired margins in the ala-cart menu items but I can configure the truck I need.

Timely video given all the videos out about the new Colorado. My plan is to buy a new mid-size or 1/2 ton truck at the end of 2024 to replace our current tow vehicle for our Casita travel trailer (2,900 lbs). The previous Colorado/Canyon was the one truck that I would NOT consider. With the redesign, it is now at the center of our radar. The current Ranger is a functional/competent mid-size truck with solid engine performance in terms of towing and hauling for a mid-size truck. However, it is dated inside and out. What do I want in a midsize truck? Tow 7,500 lbs. Payload of 1500 lbs to 1700 lbs. 300 hp. 375 lb ft of torque. Multifunction tailgate. Wishlist - the equivalent of the F150s ProPower onboard generator, midnight edition (I don’t like chrome) and a sporty look (I don’t need luxury looks in a truck). Also, I value reliability and safety. Will the new Colorado and Ranger be as reliable at the new Tacoma? Will the new Tacoma be reliable?

I got a '19 new in '19. Everything truck like about the Ranger is awesome. Tows amazing, hauls great, fantastic off road, but you nailed it, the interior is mediocre. Nevertheless, I've been overjoyed by my purchase. It has far exceeded my expectations. At the time I was shopping in '19, I didn't find the competitors interiors to be any better.

First, I would like to see class leading torque and HP, like Ford has in the F150 and Super Duty. And if that means offering the 3.0 in regular models, do it. In 2019 Ford came to market with class leading torque and allowed GM to continue with class leading HP. I don't believe people buying midsize are looking for max payload/towing. Tacoma has the lowest tow rating and sells the most. Give the Ranger coil spring rear for a great ride, as it appears the 2024 Tacoma will have it as well. My guess is all the other global improvements will follow across, 4A transfer case, heated steering wheel, ventilated seats. Offer 2-tone interior options as GM is doing on the 2023 midsize.

This might be the most Important and exciting launch of vehicles in the last few years. Mid size pickups are slowly gaining ground and are exactly what most people need. I'm excited to see a Ford Ranger hybrid plug in . GM and Chevrolet do not have that on the pipeline as of yet, but they do offer basic work trucks and different trims. That will differ with the ranger. Keep the same power train it's a good engine and transmission. The previous ranger was already dated when it arrived in North America. It just looks uninspiring and frumpy. Also I feel that the reach into the bed at the back is too high. The Rangers always had a jacked up appearance. If you're a contractor reaching in for stuff back there you won't appreciate that On a daily basis. I like the new interior design of the ranger though and exterior looks good. Let the competition begin! Great review guys thanks again!

Personally adding a huge tough screen that integrates many functionas and fully digital gauge panel is not an upgrade in my mind. They look cheap and videogamish, they are not always intuative to use and hwne they break and they do, they are really expensive to fix. All these are negatives. I would rather have that money spent on other basic features like material quality, ride and suspension. A huge touch screen is one reason I likely wouldn't buy one.

i could see Ford mirroring all engines options with the Bronco ….2.3 base-2.7v6 & 3.0v6 in the raptor …..imagine the new ranger with a 2.7 tuned 🤯

Only things that kept me from buying a ranger was the 10 speed and the interior. I think a 10 speed can be good but ive been in a co workers f150 a number of times and it can be fairly clunky

We should have seen a new Ranger in North America in the last couple of years.

Here it is 2023 and the ranger feels like it has been left behind as ford has built this beautiful off road bronco. The ranger is supposed to be tough and rugged, but it doesn't look that way. It really screams for a lift, more off road options from the factory and bigger more aggressive tires. The front end and the hood of the ranger is just plain and blah.

Hope the new Ranger Lariat comes with 4 auto, in addition to 4H and 4L. In other words, just like the current F150 Lariat and higher trims. Also, a push button start on all trims would be nice.

I was into the new ranger until they said only one motor option. I have bought a new toyota & a new nissan over the years, both with 4 cyl. Both dissappointing dogs & when people say they get better mileage they were wrong about that too because you have to shove your foot in it all the time, SO, I will never buy another 4 banger for a TRUCK......

I would buy one if the 3.3L non-turbo v6 engine from the f150 was an option in the ranger. I don't need a fast truck and I don't mind losing a few mpg for a less complicated engine that is going be reliable for a long time. It won't happen because of ford trying to please EPA and be competive with others spec sheets.

I hope they just import the Australian ranger for the NA market too. My job got me a new Ranger work truck a few months ago. Plenty of power and easy to maneuver through crowded shop yards. Huge upgrade from the old, gross 2005 Dakota I inherited before.

Real work trucks, for people that actually work, don't need touch screens.

Never liked the front end look of this era, too late 90s early 00s f150 look.. only thing keeping me from buying is rear seat space. My f150 has a huge back seat but a ranger is too small. Ford needs to find a couple inches for us family people who need a smaller truck but still haul people.

Electric vehicles only make sense for the small trip commute. Plug-in hybrids are king because they actually provide you better mileage AND range. Also as the consumer you can get away with a 120V outlet already installed in your garage.

first, reliability. Then availability. Now do affordability. Then go back and add the reliability missed in step 1.

Why are the European trucks better then the ones here in America they seem to have more options and last longer. No plug in rather just have a hybrid I don’t have to plug in to much of a hassle.

I agree with the plug-in. I have a 2018 Tacoma TRDOFF, and I bought my wife a 2018 4Runner. There both great running, and very reliable trucks. In 2019 we took a trip to Nashville. Didn’t see the first plug in, not one. They probably do now. We went to Bridestone arena to see Iron Maiden. So I wasn’t looking for plug ins
