@@donsallee5941, they couldn't if they wanted to. Safety features like airbags and seat belts and backup cameras are required by law. They also have to pass rigorous testing, making R&D fairly expensive. And some things aren't worth backtracking on. 35 years ago, it was cheaper to install window cranks than to install window regulators and motors. Now, it would cost about the same to go back to manual crank windows. I'd love to see car companies focus on budget models. But I think they'll always look like the Chevy Spark or the Mitsubishi Mirage or the Nissan Sentra. $15,000 - $17,000. At two thirds the price of a decent looking car, you might as well splurge.

Scotty, somehow I missed your video of how FORD started out with his company that did so much for so many people and his clever inventions which included his friendship with some very talented engineers/inventions. I dad actually started school at a community college learning how to work on Fords back in the 1960’s. Although he always had his hands on experience with every car he ever had. My dad owned a 1958 4 door T Bird. It was black. None of us would have dreamed of keeping it for a collection for future generations. Thank you for bringing us along for the history of how Henry Ford and what he accomplished during his life time.👍

That is correct Henry Ford was related to Thomas Edison they were cousins. and and he and Edison, and Kingsford, an employee of Ford's. and other people like Teddy Roosevelt, and even other's that were his competitors like Ransom Olds. the founder of Oldsmobile, would go out to the woods on camping trips. and would use specially equipped model Ts that chuck wagon set ups on them. and would camp and BBQ I guess it's called grilling today. it was a very popular pastime back in them days. and the brickets so to speak came from the iron foundry that was part of the Ford Motor Company. so I guess you could say that Henry Ford was the father of camping and BBQing.

Scotty, my 2013 Ford Mustang has NEVER needed a single repair. I have had to replace the tires and battery, do oil changes and filter changes and tire rotations. My BMW 3-series, my Chevy Blazer and my Hyundai Velostar (worst. car. ever.) practically needed at least one repair every six months (from buying NEW!). This V6 Ford Mustang has made me very happy. Even though it only had a 3 year warranty, I never needed it. My Hyundai had a 10 year warranty - because it needs it! As a child of the 80's Ford, GMC and Dodge taught me NEVER to buy American because they don't stand behind their products and use their customers a beta testers. Great to hear they're treating their customers better these days but it's still an easy pass when there are so many other car companies with excellent engineering behind them, 100,000 mile warranties standard and just about all of them have US plants so you're still supporting the American economy. They haven't given us a reason to buy American when they're building plants in Mexico.

Why the Mustang was so special, and was the reason the military chose the name and Ford also did. was that the name meant a horse or horse's. that were undemesticated, running in the wild, free, strong, and fast. a real symbol of strength it was an obvious choice.

R J yes I understand that I was also a Ford factory trained technician and a diesel technician in Houston Texas for many years and I am still in the industry. Most of the vehicles I see in the service department are not in for regular service There is a separate part of most shops for maintenance and most have a designated quick lube section as well. What I see most recently are turbo failures left and right on all ecoboost engines, transmission issues, evaporators leaking, overheating issues and a ton of sunroof failure on all the trucks (very expensive) and a ton of diesel issues on the three quarter and one ton trucks. That doesn’t even include the broken spark plugs in the older 3 valve engines and the cam phaser issues. But being a tech I know how to do all these repairs Like I mentioned earlier out of all domestics I would still pick a Ford

Nobody else my age was driving one, and my siblings were merciless with their barbs. I didn't care. It was like riding a couch all the way across the United States. I've had two others since then, and I'll get another when the current one dies. SUV's and FWD drivetrains are for everyone else.
