I wasn't born in this time, but I can almost hear the sounds of these beautiful rigs. The roar of the engines, the tires singing on the pavement, a good gear shift. Those were the days when a driver had to be part of the truck and feel it. Nowadays, most drivers don't have that same respect and appreciation for their rigs.

Back in that day trucking was a job, todays trucks are camping with mandated rest via EDL back then you ran from can to can’t and a couple log books.

I drove a 1978 KW with a Cummins KTA 600 putting 960 Horses to the Ground with a Road Ranger twin stick 20 speed Tranny and 2.75 Gears, Damn that Truck would Cruise, Rest in Peace Southern Shaker, Just Jim, Pony Tail and the rest of My Buds.

I remember in the seventies. Ohio fast Frieght had w model fords with Allison charmers engines. Pulling steel doubles from buffalo ny to Detroit Michigan. They would go across Ontario Canada. They were experimental engines. Anyone remember that.

Do an image search for " Michigan Twin Tanker " . I've only located four images online so far, these keywords worked best. They used to deliver to gas stations, eventually banned in late 70's.
