You have to know how to talk to the police... For example... I was once almost ran over by a drunk driver while walking my dog down the sidewalk... The guy spun out and stuck his car in a ditch... I called the police and they told me that they were very busy doing other important things and they would send a car when they could... I told her that he hit our fire hydrant and then hung up... I waited a few minutes and when I walked back I saw two police cars and they were putting him in handcuffs... He did come very close to that fire hydrant... And that is city property... Hello you all. This is my 1st time being here. I'm so shocked and beyond sad at this story. My heart truly goes out to Preston's family & friends. And you all as well because it's become a part of your lives. What I have to say to you is Thank you. Thank you for all the hard work you invest for the ones that need you to tell everyone about them and their story. You are so appreciated. Your dedication and devoted time is so loved and noticed. I watch a lot of True Crime from Tennessee. I started when Riley Strain's case started on March 9th (my daughter's birthday) and that was the day I seen his name for the first time scrolling on KZbin. But my son and daughter went to Nashville to a concert and arrived March 8th the Friday before. That is the actual day Riley Strain arrived in Nashville with frat friends from Missouri. I never watched True Crime before on KZbin. When I read about this 22 year old college kid from Missouri with his friends from college and how he just disappeared, I was glued. I had all the emotions a mother would have. My son was in Nashville and he is my baby. I mean baby as in he has 2 sisters and he's younger than his youngest sister by 11 years. So he was my baby baby. I started all over again when I thought for sure I was done and ready for grandkids. I was older and that goes with so many different feelings. The level of protectiveness was the biggest change. The case for Riley lasted 2 full weeks and I never missed anything that was available to me via internet. I cried and prayed everyday. I grew a love for his mother after hearing and witnessing her describe her son and just how vital his existence was to her world. Listening to her describe her son I felt like I was listening to myself talk about my son. And I felt her love and honesty. But being glued to everything that was aired about him I need to tell you that I don't believe I've ever been so disappointed mad or frustrated with authorities and LE the way I have been with that city's LE. I'm sure I may be wrong by innocence about a lot of how I felt and still do but I'm not feeling wrong yet. They are so night and day different than the LE & authorities you four mention at any time. Just the difference in their actions or dedication I hear in how your LE is from Tennessee's makes my heart hurt so badly for so many family's I've been watching. Right now I'm watching the case of the 15 year old teen name Sebastian Rogers and the same things are going on with the LE. I'm just another person with a mind and heart but I'm asking you to pray that ALL LE puts their energy into being better for all the victims they ever hear about in their community. Just from this first time watching you all I felt the difference in the first 5 minutes. Thank them ❤️ And thank you❤️ I'm now a fan!! See you soon!

My biggest issue with this case is that NO ONE called the police as it was happening! Instead they got phones out to record! Id be so ashamed and embarrassed if one of my kids were just a witness to something like this and does nothing! And for what??? Clout? Pride? Laws need to change and social media should ban videos like this on their platforms. Had he not died as a result, it is highly likely he would have taken his own life or wanted to as result of the humiliation he would have felt from the videos being online. This is becoming one more act of violence our society is becoming immune to. It is happening far too often and not enough is being done to prevent it. This poor family. And the police and fbi definitely made sure they had an infallible case against everyone charged. I sincerely hope his family and this community sees justice. Do not accept any pleas. Make them sit in a trial. They wanted the attention well now let them have it!

@lindafinch15207 ай бұрын
Yes, Gilbert PD is horrendous. If they had immediately investigated the death of Charles Vallow, JJ Vallow and Tylee ryan would probably still be alive and probably no attempted murder on Brian Bourdeau.

when the family of the murderer was chauffeured to the courthouse by a deputy in the family car just so they could avoid the press…that tells you everything about the police department and the family’s relationship and most likely how the investigation trial and verdict will be…also the family attorney advising the family to hide their son until his injuries heal needs to be prosecuted and stripped of his legal license

I'm not understanding how Preston was attacked over a chain that someone else grabbed
@JessicaMargaretDean7 ай бұрын
I believe it started with someone filming someone else. The filmer was asked to stop and didn’t. At that point some kids started walking away and another group started following and becoming aggressive. If I have it correct, that’s what I heard on another report. I hope that helps.
@algae_7 ай бұрын
@@JessicaMargaretDean thank you, that makes sense! This whole thing since the start reminded me strongly of clockwork orange, it sounds like it was kids out to be evil just to be evil.
@JessicaMargaretDean7 ай бұрын
@@algae_ it’s absolutely terrible. I get that there will always be kids who don’t have great upbringings and act out but this seems next level and their lack of remorse is heinous. I never saw Clockwork Orange. I remember my dad had the soundtrack and I was fascinated with it and the photos from the movie in the inner leaf of the album. I should see that movie. Stanley Kubrick is one of my favorite directors so it’s about time I see it. Thank you!
@algae_7 ай бұрын
@@JessicaMargaretDean yeah, and some kids are bad apples no matter what upbringing they had. Definitely watch it! The kids are involved in something called "ultraviolence" where essentially they just wreak havoc on the community for fun. I haven't seen it for 10 years so there's a lot I probably don't understand about it, but the story's premise is based upon young men acting like menaces solely because they can, and they prey upon those weaker and more vulnerable. And yes the lack of empathy of these gilbert goon individuals is disturbing, I found almost all of the texts and messages she read horrifying, such as the one telling them to report the fight because of a reward... or referring to him as "the kid" etc. Seems like a lot of kids out there couldn't care less, if they're not jumping up and down on your child's head, they're filming it. Nightmare shit. My dad would disown me so fast my head would spin if I didn't report information to authorities on principle alone.

I understand that a 911 operator's job is to stay calm, but there's calm and there's just downright rude and condescending. It seems that there's way too many of the latter.
@glokennard62887 ай бұрын
This was a great episode. I really appreciate the effort you put into making sure you had all the facts and then discussing it in a way that helped draw a clearer picture of what happened, without sensationalizing it. This sounds like it's going to be another one of those "good ole boy" cases. Like the Murdaugh case. You're either in their pockets or you're terrified of them. Either way stuff will be covered up or not admissible .

The sad thing is, society, and culture, has changed dramatically since cell phones, and social media. A lot of us Gen Xers remember crazy, and wild teen parties. And earlier generations of teens, too. My dad told me about wild house parties in San Diego he went to while in high school, 1954-1958. All with drinking, and hundreds of kids. Some down at the beach, OB and MB, or at suburban homes. Just like my dad, I had attended wild parties, with alcohol/drugs, and way too many teens. Lots of times it was innocuous, and ended with zero police presence. Yet, some there’d be fist fights, or several crying girls, and many teens vomiting etc. at the end of the night. Then there would be the stories at school, after the party weekend, without photo or video footage, like today. What shocks me nowadays, is that kids don’t have that level of empathy, where many do get on their phones to film the violence rather than try to stop it, or CALL 911…I remember being at a couple of out of control parties, where if you heard someone shout ‘cops are coming, we’d all scatter. Every generation of teens has its problems. Unfortunately technology has created a different kind of teen culture. And, everything is documented these days, with many things immediately uploaded to social media. People find out about these things via social media, instead of word of mouth. And everything is 24/7 these days because of technology. 911 operators are meant to try to calm people, in order to get information, so as to get ambulances, fire trucks and/or police. It’s an incredibly stressful job. There are thousands of good 911 operators that have truly made a difference. However, we hear about these bad 911 operators more often bc everything is online. And news, which sensationalizes things, is 24/7 now. We are inundated with awful things happening. One thing I do remember, bc I’ve had to call 911 a few times over the last few decades, if a homeowner calls about an out of control situation, especially with numerous teens involved, police should have been dispatched, immediately, once the address was given. I feel as if people act shocked about events, that have (sadly) gone on for generations, and then throw blame far too often without knowing all the facts (2nd and 3rd hand info and opinions aren’t facts) as well as make blanket statements, and comments about ‘entitled kids.’ Every generation has deplorable parents and teens. It’s just society now sees things differently, bc, again, social media has changed the way we all view criminal activity. Poor Preston was one of many unfortunate victims of violence. And it’s disgusting that it was all over social media. I truly hope his family, and friends, are eventually able to come to terms with his (mob mentality) murder, and savor the good memories. Humanity has not evolved as fast as technology. And with 24 hour international, national, and local news cycles, we’re all thrust into reading and watching continuous coverage of the worst atrocities.
@Petra-beta7 ай бұрын
I hope you clarify and correct the 911 calls weren’t at the party home where Preston was at, a but a different party nearby- at a totally different location. The 9:09 pm dispatch call the Chief said is the only 911 call from the party concerning where Preston was, the rest came from the party nearby. It doesn’t help to spread misinformation, particularly when it is a case is a juvenile being ☠️ Because of the misinformation, the Chief had to come out and address it himself because people were so angry thinking police were ignoring the situation. They weren’t. They were at the location where all the calls were actually coming from.
