Even with the down-to-earth & realistic way you narrate these stories, I couldn't suspend my disbelief for story 14. "Terror gripped my heart like icy talons...the realisation struck with unrelenting force. How many times had this pervy prowler peeked undetected? His unwelcome presence a sinister secret? It plunged my fragile psyche into an abyss of paranoia". This OP was trying waaayyy too hard. I never normally question the validity of these stories as your delivery is so good, but 14 had me rolling. Forgive me, I love your channel ❤
@MalevolentMischief Жыл бұрын
I love this. I appreciate the thought that you put into crafting your comment, and trust, it is well received. I try my best to walk into every narration taking OP at face value for the fact that I find their accounts in a subreddit that is not meant for creepypastas, and tbh, I much prefer when an OP has a knack or flair for storytelling. It makes the tales that much more engaging for me to both read and narrate for others. That being said, I hope at the very least that you were entertained as you were rolling. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
@theherstorychannel Жыл бұрын
@MalevolentMischief Thank you 😊 I appreciate you taking the comment the way it was intended! I also try and take them all at face value and love it when OP's have a way with words. You're great at picking posts where the OP really helps set the scene for the listener and makes it feel like you could be there with them. I find 99% of them believable tbh! It was just this one particular author giving me Edgar Allan Poe wannabe vibes; it stood out and made me chuckle. Keep up the good work. Wishing you every success - your channel deserves to blow up. And hope you have a great weekend too 😁

@@theherstorychannelsame, hahaha. I couldn't get over how OP was waxing like a poet the entire story, and almost came off like they were trying really hard to sound smart. It was a believable story though. Just a bit overly dramatic with the alliteration 😂

STORY 29 THAT WASN'T A COP. I've heard of four stories that match this one. Randomly stops a person assuming the police position and attempts to lure them into the car for no reason. Always ask to look at their police badge and never get in the car when youve done nothing wrong. They are not your boss they are your employee.

some bonus safety tips: 1. if you’re getting pulled over at night, put on your hazards, slow down, then exit the highway and stop somewhere with good lighting, like a 24 hour gas station. putting on your hazards and slowing down lets the officer know that you acknowledge you’re being pulled over 2. in some states, unmarked police vehicles cannot make traffic stops 3. if you are being detained, they will have you sit on the curb or stand by your vehicle or the officer’s (unless the weather is bad) 4. your license/registration/insurance will be run BEFORE you’re asked to do any field sobriety tests 5. by law, a police officer must tell you their name and who they work for as soon as they approach your window 6. while it’s not the law, most police stations have a policy saying that the officer must give you their badge number or call a supervisor if requested 7. like the person in the story did, stay composed and polite 8. one of the first things that you should say is ask why you were pulled over 9. do not assume you’re safe because you have people with you; do not assume you’re safe because there are multiple police vehicles
@motorphina Жыл бұрын
Yes! And don't be scared to call 911 to make sure they are a cop! Also you have the right to drive until you can pull over in a well lit and OCCUPIED area when being pulled over at night. Just slow down, put on your hazards and pull into an open business. If you are not near an open business call 911 and tell them you need to be sure that the person pulling you over is in fact an officer. You can even ask them to stay on the line for the remainder of the stop.

@bryannaajoyy Жыл бұрын
They have to tell you the reason for being pulled, as well as needing probable cause to detain you. And HUGELY important to remember - if you can’t pull over immediately or don’t feel safe to pull over where it’s not well lit/populated - as well as hazards & slowing down as a sign that you’re looking for somewhere adequate to pull over, definitely call 9-1-1 and let a dispatcher know what’s going on, ask if it’s even a real officer, and if so relay the message so they’re aware. If it’s not, obviously don’t pull over & they’ll likely dispatch a REAL officer. Of course, impersonating a LEO is illegal on its own, but it’s potentially incredibly dangerous in cases like hers (where she DID stop, he got her out of the vehicle, over to his &, if she wouldn’t have gone with her gut, probably into it also) because MOST PEOPLES initial reaction - especially new/young drivers - to blue lights is fully pulling over the moment they know they’re the vehicle he’s flashing. Sadly, this is WAY more common than how often we actually hear about it. You can ask for his agency/department, badge number, name of course but probably won’t get a real one, for him to request that another officer be present for the remainder of the stop. If they’re NOT doing shady shit, none of those are unrealistic or unreasonable requests - usually you’d be searched before being detained, and then you’d definitely most likely need to be searched a little more thoroughly before being put into the vehicle/under arrest, but they can’t technically LEGALLY frisk/pat down someone of the opposite sex either. Overall, SUPER GREAT, HELPFUL THINGS TO KNOW with all the crazy things happening & sick individuals out there!!!!

Story 4. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT or intuition…spidey senses…whatever you want to call it!!! There is a reason our body does that. Regardless, it’s always better to be safe than sorry!! I’ve been a Mom for over 20 years now but even before this I had always trusted my gut and scooted out of situations that didn’t feel quite right. I can’t stress this anymore than I have. Y’all be safe out there frfr!!

Had to add this for story 13. I can not STAND IT when people use a disability or mental issue as a crutch or excuse to do bad things and treat people badly. There are so many REALLY GREAT people out there with the same or similar issues that would never do this but bc of the few really bad apples out there, they get stereotyped or labeled or treated badly themselves. I had a really great deaf friend years ago who moved away and she not only taught me a lot of sign language but she told me how people assume that deaf people are dumb bc maybe they talk funny or in my opinion people are just ignorant to the issue. She was an amazing young lady and I really enjoyed her company and we had so many conversations that at times my hands would cramp up lol. I’m sure it was bc I wasn’t used to using my hands in that way. I heard someone say once, “That guy seems handy capable to me!!” So I always think about that when I think about anyone who is quote “handicapped” Be careful when judging people, you may lose out on some really great knowledge or experience that could change your life like what happened to me. They say don’t judge a book by its cover and I couldn’t agree with that statement more. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt if they’re not causing problems intentionally or putting anyone in danger. I try to always count my blessings and I would suggest to anyone to try and do that as well. So to the bad people out there…you suck! To anyone who is being mistreated bc of a “disability” of any kind, my prayers are with you. Please don’t think everyone is like that bc their re people like me who don’t see things that way. Sorry yall…I’m a little in my feelings today. I sit home most days lonely and don’t talk to many people so if you read all of that…Thank you!! I hope maybe I have helped someone. Nothing makes me happier. Y’all be vigilant out there. Also, be kind…the world needs that right now. ☮️Peace yall!!✌🏽

50:15 To any author who wants to write a "true" scary story: too much detail is a dead giveaway the story is fake. People who describe real life events very rarely focus on their vocabulary being carefully thought through and their sentences tend to be longer to fit all the necessary details. If getting to the actual main event takes you ten paragraphs then either the story is entirely fake or you're amping the events up on purpose. All the "bitter storms" and "treacherous high school years" starting from the very first sentence make the author come across as extremely melodramatic.
@MalevolentMischief Жыл бұрын
Fair enough assessment. However, I will say that the ability to retell an event in one's life can take many forms given OP's ability to articulate, recall, and recount what has happened. Admittedly, not everybody possesses those skills at the same level. The story that you're referencing does sound a bit drummed up, but I can't vilify anybody for having the ability to entertain in their account. While the subreddits that I scrape for these stories are meant to share terrible/scary/off-putting firsthand experiences, they are also there for entertainment just as much as they are meant to be informative. After all, that's part of the appeal as to why we consume these stories the way we do. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate you sharing your sentiments.
@SilenceDogood99918 күн бұрын
@@MalevolentMischiefall you're doing is moving the goal post and justifying it by it being entertainment. If you are the author is representing it as a true story, and it's obviously not, it cheapens it and comes off as phony and dishonest.

You think being hit on while you're looking for your missing cat is bad? Oh honey... I found out this guy knew of me, like had seen me around town & such, I half-ass talked to him once at a club or something awhile back. I was pregnant & my bf & I were on & off. I ended up in the hospital with a rupture & internal bleeding (tubal pregnancy). This freaking weirdo dude finds out, brings me a flower & card & sits in my room for 3 HOURS trying to hit on me, 2 days after I lost my baby. Wt-absolute-f is going through his mind or how he thought this was good timing...I have no idea. I was so whacked out on a dilauded IV, I barely knew what was going on, but I knew I couldn't hit that med drip button as long as he was there. I finally promised to call him as soon as I got out of the hospital so we could hang out. I was in so much pain by the time he left & I was terrified he'd come back. So I called my Dad who dropped everything & drove 14hrs to me. (Before anyone says I should've called the nurses, I did, they never came by. Not even joking.) I think the weirdo tried to come back to the hospital but my Dad stopped him & scared him enough, I never saw him again. Who else has a creeper hitting on you at the worst/weirdest time?

How freaking terrible. I’m so sorry that you had to endure such a thing, and it makes me wonder how the creeper in your story even learned of your situation. I had no idea why he was chasing me so hard. The ICU nurses were fantastic, the floor nurses were horrible. They didn't even help me to the bathroom the first time. I called them, they never came & eventually I had to drag myself & the IV pole in there. Couldn't really wait any more. Anyway, I'm really enjoying your channel! A little late to the party but Story 20 sounds so similar to a guy I had to deal with in the States. So much so I had to listen to it again to make sure it wasn’t the same guy. I feel the narrator and the girl’s pain. It sucks this is a global issue.

Story 8 (The Voodoo group taking pictures) of the kids to sell and hurt them through spells or something is next level creepy. I like learning about Voodoo and its different forms and the history and just how complex it can be.. but I have NEVER heard any good person talk about anything like that. It's like the opposite of what they would call a love potion. I don't believe in it, but I have to say, that gave me the chills. Very, very creepy. If that was my child, I couldn't let it go and I would have to find them and start flashing cameras at them, see how they like it. Turn them into a giant meme on a freeway overpass. "This woman pooped her pants" with a giant picture of voodoo mama juju
@MalevolentMischief Жыл бұрын
This made me laugh harder than it should have. The voodoo thing was creepy, but the idea of hanging a not flattering message from a freeway overpass was hilarious.

I kinda hate it when people blame police for not doing more. Likely they are doing everything they can, within their capacity.
@MalevolentMischief Жыл бұрын
Sure, although I can definitely see it from all sides. I've narrated enough of these stories where the circumstances of what has happened don't exactly match the effort of the police to protect against things devolving even further. Conversely, I've also read more than my share of stories where it's like "What do you expect the police to do?" so like I said, I definitely see it going both ways.

The story about the deaf guy being dodgy. My mate who is triggered by certain noises and actions went out with a girl who was literally like the episode of family guy when Chris goes out with a girl with downs who was an arsehole. This girl was a hundred times worse making noises and blaring music then just laughing when he couldn’t hack it. He ended it but she kept showing up. It ended with me Saying if she came back again he’d call the police. She was trying to get me to hit her but I wasn’t playing her game. Once I pulled my phone out and started to dial she walked off. Last we heard she’s somehow found herself a job working in a centre where elderly and people with disabilities go for activities and such. If we knew where it was we would tell her employer But she lives a good Train ride away my mate thinks it might be a town near London but he’s just blocked all that out. Can’t say I blame him.

While I understand why and agree that woman vastly outnumber men when it comes to being subjugated to harassment, 90% of these “true” stories are just “I felt uncomfortable”. It’d be nice to get some variety. As for the other 10%, they’re just comically unbelievable. I’m suppose to honestly believe that a half daycare, half asylum actually existed?! 😂

Actually there were a number of pediatric psychiatric hospitals in Canada that got shut down. These facilities DID have daycares in them So like, not exactly a daycare + asylum, but similar
