There is comparison of different factions with Rama, Ravana and Sita. Raghavendra Tirtha is compared with Sita. When a question on her purity was raised, she burnt herself to prove that. Why did Raghavendra Tirtha not surrender all the religious items & valuables with his guru Sri Sudhindra Tirtha to prove his innocence and prove that Ravanas working against him are wrong?

It is good to be argumentative in life, not at the cost of losing everything. How can anyone question the decision of Parama guru? What I heard about the conflict though different people was that the Senior Swamiji Shri Sudhindra Teerth was surrounded by a coterie of conservative people, who wanted to maintain conservative principles in the Math. When the Junior Swamiji Raghavendra Tirth was selected, he started modernizing the thinking and the perspective of the Math. He encouraged progressive values like girls education, widow remarriage, freedom to select their course of life and life partner, and other similar progressive values. The conservative coterie surrounding the Senior Swamiji did not like this, and thus engineered the rift in the Math. Apparently a lot of respect for the Math elders got lost because of this and the youngsters who wanted change got frustrated by the machinations of the elders.
