True Georgia Backcountry Mountain Biking. Mountaintown Creek

Backcountry mountain bike adventure on the Mountaintown Creek trail in the Cohutta Wilderness outside of Ellijay, Ga. After a 14 mile gravel ride most of which is climbing you reach the top of the Mountaintown Creek trail and are treated to a very fast and fairly long opening decent followed by true backcountry riding that includes riding along and through beautiful mountain streams and a few moderately technical downhills. I highly recommend this trail just confirm trail conditions before riding as it does tend to accumulate falling trees. If you prefer to avoid the long gravel climb Mulberry Gap Adventure Base Camp offers shuttle service.

Love how your video gives a "tour" of the trail you are riding. I feel like now I know where to park and how to get to the trail and most importantly I have a great feel for the character of the trail itself.😀

How far past the overlook is this trail ? It looks awesome

It’s not too far from the Mountaintown Overlook. If I had to guess I would say 2-3 miles. It is an awesome trail but I would check with Cartacay Bike shop on the trail status before riding. @@roberts4241 thank you so much . I will definitely ask them that’s my bike shop . I don’t live but 2 miles from Gates chapel I believe this trail and one other are the only ones I’ve not ridden yet . Great video and thanks again for the info .

The trail in this video is in the 97,000 acre Cohutta Wildlife Management Area. 37,000 acres of this area are designated as Wilderness. Here is a link for more information georgiawildlife.com/cohutta-wma
