Dash cams are def something you should get if possible, saves so much hassle with accidents. Some cars come with it builtin now as well, but if you get a separate one make sure not to leave it plugged in while you're not using the car for a long time, since it can drain the battery.

I have a dashcam. Recently our car got hit and our wingmirror was destroyed. Thanks to the dashcam footage we got the whole things sorted in a few days with the insurance company.

This episode sounded good to listen to compared to a few others in the recent past. Not saying others were bad, but 447 stands out to me for some reason at least to me. It got the goofs, it got the weather locations, it got the life updates, it got the nostalgia, it go it all.

Absolutely recommend getting a dashcam. You never know when somebody will do something crazy and hit you outside of your control. Dropping ~$100 on a dashcam can save you a lot of money and headache in proving to insurance that you're not at fault. Definitely don't tell the other person you have one though; let them dig themselves into a hole by lying to the police or insurance rather than giving them a reason to hit and run.

Weather request: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada! Now I have a story about this place. As a kid I went with my parents on a road trip and we passed by Prince Edward Island because they had some famous lobster restaurant. I've always been a little squeamish about crustaceans because *really* they're just giant bugs of the sea. We got whole lobsters cracked down the middle and I watched with horror as my parents would tear off the legs and suck the juices from them. And then the waiter would come around and be like "You see this little green bit? That's the brain, it's the best part!" The whole experience was lost on little old me, unfortunately. Maybe I'd have a better time with it today. With Yukon down we're at 7/13 of the Canadian provinces! it was more than slightly demoralizing as a California resident who learned a lot about the California gold rush going to a rv tour following the Yukon high way. They literally laughed about how small and pathetic our gold rush was. One tour guide joked that our gold came from the run off scraps of Canadians gold rush.

@kyoshiro13 oh, interesting. We've got named highways here, but as far as I know the interstates are just identified with their numbers. So it's just I-5 and I-90 for me. That said, you can totally pick out Californian transplants when they call it "the 5". Absolutely nobody says that here despite it barely being any different.

@@BruceBoyde As the interstates (90 and 94) run directly through the city, using separate names for the north and south portions makes traffic reports easier. Kennedy inbound/outbound & Dan Ryan inbound/outbound helps to describe rush hour traffic to/from downtown. Otherwise you would have to use something like "North I-90 inbound" which is more cumbersome. Also more confusing as it would be geographically Southbound and technically Eastbound given even numbered Interstates run East/West.

@kyoshiro13 that makes sense. Usually here they would say "I-5 south near exit 127" or whatever. Seattle has so many subdivisions that they'll call out the name of the neighborhood it's passing through, like Montlake. Might help that the interstates run extremely straight here, so the exit numbers are pretty usable for gauging where something is. From what I understand, they can get pretty twisty as you get out east, since they're amalgams of pre-existing routes rather than planned.

I got a dash cam last year and it worked fine at first but unfortunately when I turn it keeps falling off it's mount so I had to remove it. But the only nitpick I have about it is it only recorded in two minute clips. Very tedious to have to shift through later.

Crendor wanted to know if we have dash cams, and I do indeed have a dash cam. Got it after my last accident where someone t-boned my old car. Their insurance did not want to believe that person was at fault, so it took like 3 months to get everything solved. My hope is to never have to use the dash cam. However, if I ever need to, it's there.

Just to be a little nerd and in case anyone didn't know who may or may not be interested, the switch has seen, one brand new metroid game (Metroid Dread), a remaster of metroid prime for gamecube, and is going to get metroid prime 4 (brand new game) next year. Animal crossing received patches, but did also get a small dlc expansion adding in gameplay and content from the spinoff "animal crossing happy home designer." Also only one animal crossing per console, but it's not like we'll have to wait very long for the next one of those. F-zero did get f-zero 99, which is very small but very important, and starfox has seen an official release of starfox 2 on virtual console whereas before it was a slightly unfinished, unreleased game, which again is very small but something. Otherwise we haven't seen it since starfox zero on wiiU.

46:08 My guess on how they'll do it is they'll dumb it down in a way that's different from the main game but still enjoyable in its own way. Like when Skullgirls went to mobile: it was a fighting game that turned into a card-collecting resource-management game. There were still fighting elements, but a large part of it was deciding which team works against which CPU opponents as well as allocating which abilities work best. Then you'd level up, get more resources, and the gameplay loop continues. It's definitely not the same tag-team fighting game the main game is, but it's very solid and works in a different way. As a FFXIV fan, I'd say as long as I can play through the story, I'm fine with controls being dumbed down.

I have a dashcam and a rear cam. Bought the Viofo A229 Plus 1440p that came with both cameras along with the addon "HK4 Acc Hardwire Kit" to hardwire it to the car instead of having it plugged in through USB. Setup was relatively easy. Just pull the side trims a bit with a plastic pry tool(look for tools designed for cars) and pop the cable in there. Overall took me about 2 hours to do it all, because I was not used to it and had to watch a few tutorials before starting to potentially destroy my car (no damages, thankfully). The image quality is plenty good enough to see plates and faces of pedestrians on the side. I'm up in Canada so there is not much sun to god rays in the videos, but they also have sun filtering lens to put on it. You will want a U3 V30 SDXC card or better, like the sandisk "High Endurance" SDSQQNR-256G-GN6IA.

Full agreement about DLC not being a GOTY ... Sucks that it happens. Sucks that it could again. Make a category. Also.. E-Sports (i feel) will NEVER succeed while ACTUAL sports is a thing. The HUGE demographic they're trying, desperately, to get into E-Sports already have REAL Sports to go mad about... They're never side stepping that into games. It just isn't going to happen. E-Sports has a small slice of gamers who will, of course, get into it... but the ratio within gaming people, compared to the ratio in ALL people, is absolutely minute

They have millions of viewers (LOL Worlds broke the record with almost 7M peak, excluding China) and millions in prize money for largest tournaments. Real sports audience and esports Venn diagrams have a bit overlap. Some nerds can't stand sports and vice versa. It's no Superbowl, naturally, that has almost 18 times the audience.
